MC9 Crashes while trying to save file

I tried saving a file which was originally created in Version 7 and get an error "Program Error Mill9.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows ...." It only gives this error when surfaces are shown on the current level. I can delete the surfaces and it will save. I can switch to another level and it will save. I am running Win2000 OS and even tried exporting the file in IGES format and then importing it back into V9 with no luck. Anyone know what is going on?

Try bring the file into version 8 and then into version 9 (if you still have version 8 loaded).

M/c always crashes on me if I have the "save thumbnail image with geometry" toggled on.This seems to be pretty consistant with the 4 P/Cs in our shop. Nice feature huh.Top shelf.

I have heard this before once that I remember on this forum. I have never had this problem myself and I've had Mastercam in 3 different computers at 1 time or another since I've worked here. Try turning off the save thumbnail feature like FUSION said, or try saving the file without having the shading active.

FUSION are all the boxs preatty much the same build?

I have never had a problem with this issue and I am wondering like alwas what video cards are in the computers along with what OS.

 

I have 4 computer's make that 5 that I have run V8 & V9 with thumbnails and no trouble.

 

there has to a problem there.

Lets see if we can figure some thing out here.

Is your shading on, if it is try turning it off and then saving it, ATI cards have that problem, if your graphic accelerator is at maximum and you try to save while your shading is on it will crash(this is with ATI).

It seems that an ATI card might be the culpret.Tried saving in shaded and it crashes.Save unshaded has no problems. Our admin installed Ati 8800 cards recently but one box has a g-force with no troubles shaded or not.Thanks

Fusion,the reason of this is the poor use of Open GL of ATI's gaming cards.

It stopped happening to me

after I installed 8.1.1 over 8.0

(Same card Oxygen GVX1)

Sure enough, running an ATI Rage video card. I turned off shading and have not had a problem. Thanks for the help.
