Basic machining

I have been working in Tool and Die for quite some time. Mostly on manual machines. Alot of the time, what looked and sounded good...was good. Have now been thrust into a CNC and Mastercam environment. I love it!! One problem. I need a quick reference for feeds and speeds for milling , drilling and tapping. Well turning too. I can look each up in the Machinery's Handbook, but was wondering if there is a reference on disk or paper that would speed up this process. I hope that this is not a dumb request. Thanks so much!

What I would do is Contact your local tool Salesman to come by and show you some of the new Carbide grades and their applications(speeds& feeds, depth of cuts).Don't stick to one person, call them all in and see what each of them has to say. Have them drop off sample inserts and cutters and try them out.

They have of lot information to give(they should have) and have them explain things you do not understand.

Actually I was going to start a thread on if machining experience was required to get in Mastercam training (courses).

I am receiving lots of help and opinions. I really do appreciate this. I agree MILLTURN, I also believe that experience in machining should be required. At least the basics. I have the materials that I can research. I was just wanting something to speed this process. I think the idea of contacting tool dealers sounds great. I will get right on that. Thanks Charles, I am dowloading now.
