I REALY LIKE THE NEW SEMI FINISH OPTION IN

V9.

HOWEVER,IF YOU USE THE SAME LATHE TOOL TO "ROUGH"

AND YOU USE THE SAME TOOL TO "FINISH",

USING THE SEMI FINISH PARAMETER,HOW CAN YOU HOLD YOUR TOLORENCE?

I MEAN,WHAT IF YOU ARE MACHINING HIGH TEMP.METALS

THE INSERT WILL BE BEAT TO CRAP!

WHY DON'T THEY ADD AN "INSERT CHANGE" OPTION

INSIDE OF THE SEMI FINISH BOX?

IS THIS A GOOD IDEA? OR AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

I beleive this option is for instance, say that you are roughing some hard material and your "pull-off" is 45 degree's which may leave "steps" on some tapered walls. Using the semi-finish option and leaving stock on "X & Z", you will remove these steps so that your finish tool will not be wasted.

Or if you are only cutting one part, this would be a great and fast option for using just one tool.

There are, as always, many different approaches. Just be glad MC gives you the option to use it or not.

Hope this helps,
