revering a Face cut

Good Morning,

I am prepapring a piece of stock for machining. X27" x Y12". I'm FACE cutting with a 3" dia Shell mill, at 90 degrees and taking 2 passes with the finish pass at .005 in Z.

Im Using Ver 8.1.1 and an older FADAL VMC 15XT (decent 'tho).

QUESTION: How do i get the tool to stay down and reverse it's path for the finish cut? I dont like the rapid up, long (24") rapid back to the beginning and rapid down to start the finish cut.

I can do a lot of work arounds to fix this but i'd like to do iy right in that path in MasterCam.

TIA

KLG

Hi Keith,

In using 8.1.1 Face operation I used all absolute

values for parameters and high speed loops between cuts. Zigzag cutting method with 50%

stepover and Depth Cuts checked on. In depth cuts I used .005 finish pass and checked on Keep Tool Down box. Posted with MPMaster and looked good.

So Keith you don't want it to use the plunge rate to go to "Z0" then back to the cutting rate?

Wait it does not move back to the starting point in this fashion it finishes the ruff and the move straight down the back to cutting rate and back to the start point.
