Ona Wire EDM Post Proc. - STCW

Hopefully this is an easy fix. This is for an Ona Prima S 250 using the standard "Mpwprima.pst"

The main things I can not figure out though is the "Start Position" and "Thread Position" variables from the STCW parameters. I set the start and thread positions and don't get what I except at posting.

Not always is the start position going to be the thread position.

I need the G92 X__Y__U__V__Z__H__ to be the "Start Position" not the "Thread Position" which is in the "psof pstartg92" area

And then the next line starts "psof pstartpsof0a" or "psof pstartpsof1a" area Depending if the start and thread positions are the same.

Then I need to rapid to the "Thread Position" in the "prapid plinlin" area or "psof pstartpsof0a" area if the start and thread are equal. If they are equal now you get two rapid movements which are the same. This may be used for "No-Vertical Thread/Cut" I'm not sure.

Mainly what I need is this

%

G90

G92 X and Y to be the "Start Position" parameter U0.V0. and H the be UV Height

G00 X and Y Rapid to "Thread Position" parameter

G69X to be the Height/Thickness U to be the Condition Code from the power library and W to be the Misc Interger 1/Material Type.

G41/G42 Offset left or right

G62X0 Setting of offset

G01 Cuts for the geometry

And then the same for skim cuts. I don't want to cut back to the start position just the thread position.

Any help and or info would be appreciated.

No takers on answering this one????

Or did I stir up a known problem? Or can no one can answer this one?

Our EDM trainer we had on our machine noted that it was a problem with MasterCAMs post over his Esprit post. It's only that one small thing that makes it sooo frustrating. mad.gif

I've been own our MC rep. but he's not the most helpful at times.

Thanks in advance!

Using the MPWPRIMA.PST from the Wire v9 CD

I was able to post this out...

1>Start Position was set to -> X0,Y0

2>Thread was set to -> X0, Y-1.70452

3> "Auto Start position" was un-checked on the Lead in/out page.

%

G90

G92X0.Y0.U0.V0.Z0.H1.

G00X0.Y0.

Y-1.70452

M60

G69X1.U101W0

G62 X1

G41

G01Y-1.95452

X1.16365

Is this what you wanted ?

That was it!!!

I unchecked "Auto Start Position" and there it worked! I know it had to be something I was just overlooking.

You do get extra lines of similar movements. This is maybe because I'm using 4-Axis as opposed to straight contour.

Originally our Ona technician told us to switch the order of the G42 and G62X0 which is comp. left or right and setting of the offset, but I've not seen it make a difference on the machine.

Here what I got unchecking the auto start:

%

G90

G92X-.2Y.2U0.V0.Z0.H.47244

G00X-.2Y.2

X-.05Y-.02724 <- First Movement

G69X.47244U11W10

G62 X0

G00X-.05Y-.02724U0.V0. <- Same movement but 4-axis U and V

G41

G01X-.05Y-.07724U0.V-.12659

G01X.14764Y-.07724U0.V-.12659

Thanks alot!!!!!
