General C-hook question

Recommended Posts

I know there was a reason that the V9 chooks don't work in X, but is there any way to mass convert them?

What about a translator for X so V9 chooks can work.

Or better yet is there any reason that X couldn't "read" the chook just like a V9,8,7 etc file?????

Who else is missing their favourite chooks and doesn't have the ability to write new ones?????

V9 C-Hooks need to be recompiled with the new X SDK in order to work in X. And compiling is not the only thing that must be done as there have been changes in the X SDK from the previous versions. Therefore a lot of their code must also be updated/refactored.

So...no cheers.gif

Bruce,

Sorry - that's just not possible with DLLs. They aren't just files (like STEP, MC9, etc) they're executable program and they rely heavily on the EXE that they're run from. As you know, there are huge differences between the V9 and X executables, and huge differences in their software architecture as well.

From the software side, even if we could build a converter to convert the C-Hook's source code to what X wants (and on very simple C-Hooks it might be possible), but the DLL would still need to be rebuilt.

Also, any C-hook that uses the old-style menus would need a serious rewrite, since those don't even exist anymore.
