Set up VBScript to answer question in post

Recommended Posts

???

If you are looking to have a VB Script fill in the answer for a post (MP) FQ question.

Answer is No.

It is possible to run a VB Script from the PST and have the script save the responses to a file and then the PST can open that file (as a Buffer File) and use that data within for whatever purposes desired.

You would not use the FQ in the PST in this case, as it waits from input from the user (keyboard) before moving on.

As Roger said, this would require editing the post. What you'd want to do is cut the question from the post and instead read an input from a file that the VBScript would write out.

Don't think of it as answering the question. You have data that you need to get into the post (in this case a single integer [0-7]). Worry about how to get it there, knowing that the question mechanism is only one way, and not necessarily appropriate for your use case.

Also, remember to always back up your post.

connormac,

You could take a look at the example files in the MULTI-PST_VBS.ZIP in the /Text_&_post_files_&_misc/ folder on the forum FTP site.

The PST fires off a VBS that gathers data from the user and writes that data out to a file. The PST then opens that file as a Buffer and reads in that info. Look in the PEOF postblock.
