surface to curves

Recommended Posts

Anybody know what the function is to create edges/curves from a surf? Solids are easy enough with ps_solid_ask_edges and ps_tag_to_mc_ents but I'm drawing a blank with surfs.

build_all_edgecrvs_on_surf, build_all_edgecrvs_on_surf_bndy, and build_edgecrv_on_surf look promising but they're not documented.

Thanks for any help.

Bryan,

I haven't had time to test this myself, but here goes...

void build_all_edgecrvs_on_surf(

const ent *surf_ent,

real ch_tol,

real break_angle,

MC_BOOL *interrupted,

CArray &eptrArray);

Looks like you pass it a ptr to the 'Surface Entity' and a 'chordal_tolerance' and a 'break_angle'.

The the 'interrupted' will be true if the user hit ESC to abort.

The function fills in the 'eptrArray' with the Curves that were created

*For 'chordal' and break angle' see how these options are used in the main menu function: Create - Curve - Curve on All Edges

Roger,

tried the function build_all_edgecrvs_on_surf with chordal and break angle as i do in Mastercam directly.

The output from my chook differs in most cases. 'Mastercam direct' produces at cylinder-surfaces the correct arcs and lines.

With my chook i got at the same cylinder-surfaces splines and lines, no arcs.

In both cases i use for the chordal-tolerance 0.075 and for the break-angle 20.0.

Have you any ideas, what to do, to get these arcs with my chook?

Thanks in advance.

Norbert
