Lathe mounted to Router Table

I posted this topic in the main forum a while back with the message: "Anyone have experience turning wood parts by mounting a lathe to the table of a 3 axis router(Thermwood)? I don't, but we are about to try it. Any thoughts, horror stories, advice or suggestions? Besides the obvious solution of purchasing a CNC lathe of course, that'd be too easy. Thanks."

Well, I've got it up and running but I'm having a problem with the feed rate on my 2nd operation. I put the file on the FTP in the Router folder, file name: CF4161.MC9. When the program is running, the first op. runs fine. When it gets to the 2nd op. the feed rate jumps up to 2100, not the 200 I set it to in the program. Then on the 3rd op. it runs fine again. If someone could take a look at my file and possibly help me out I'd appreciate it. Sorry this is so long. Thanks

We had one of our Router customers weld a gear on the end of the Y ball screw and rig up a chain drive to control the rotation using the Y axis to cut turnings on their router. Weird looking setup to say the least.

On some machines I have delt with in the past, the feed gets applied to the axis with the greatest move. In other words it would switch from in/min for linear axis to deg/min for rotary axis if the rotary axis move was greater than the linear move. Could it be that you need to use inverse time feedrates on this part?

My guess would be that Travis is right on the money. That is the typical situation with Thermwoods in my experience. The feed rate is applied to whichever axis has the greatest move.
