  1. 2nd op. is still running at 2100. I don't get it.
  2. I want the tool to stay at 9", no retract is necessary. I do want all perpindicular lead in & outs though. Thank you for pointing that out to me.
  3. I thought maybe it was reading the retract rate as the feed rate also, so I reposted w/ a 200 retract rate but it still ran at 2100. I'll give what you suggested a try. Thanks for taking a look at it.
  4. I posted this topic a while back with the message: "Anyone have experience turning wood parts by mounting a lathe to the table of a 3 axis router(Thermwood)? I don't, but we are about to try it. Any thoughts, horror stories, advice or suggestions? Besides the obvious solution of purchasing a CNC lathe of course, that'd be too easy. Thanks." Well, I've got it up and running but I'm having a problem with the feed rate on my 2nd operation. I put the file on the FTP in the Router folder, file name: CF4161.MC9. When the program is running, the first op. runs fine. When it gets to the 2nd op. the feed rate jumps up to 2100, not the 200 I set it to in the program. Then on the 3rd op. it runs fine again. If someone could take a look at my file and possibly help me out I'd appreciate it. Sorry this is so long. Thanks

  6. I think the idea so far was to fix the lathe to the table, spin the stock in the lathe, then have the router come down with an endmill.
  7. The finished part is 3 1/2 Dia. x 16".

  9. I've got an MC file of a 2d sea turtle that resembles those images if you'd like it.
  10. Hmmm, I'm not sure you can do that w/ art. Instead of machining a mold could you make a 4'x4' frame, place the type of rocks you want in it and the arrangment you want them, and then pour in a liquid rubber. Sorry, not really my area of expertise, just brain stormin'.Good luck.
  11. What type of stone are you trying to replicate. If it's something like dry stone, feild stone or river rock, you could draw the outline of each individual piece and then modify the concave properties of each one, or several with the same properties randomly spread around. Doeas that make sense? After you machine it you could then beat it with a hammer or a heavy chain to get some irregular surfaces. HTH
  12. Bummer. Thanks anyway for the replies.
  13. Ok, I tried that. Still can't get the color to change though. Any other ideas?
  14. I'm using V9.1 and want to change the background color of my toolpath ops. Verify screen. Any help appreciated.
  15. Yup, that'd be it. Thanks Kannon. Since I had to make the profile with 1" dia. when I define it to 1.5" OAD. will it scale the tool proportionally?
  16. I've created the tool profile for a boat-edge router bit & saved it in my tools folder. I made the tools overall dia. 1". The actual dia. is 1.5" I select the undefined tool under Tool Type, then parameters, select tool file name "boat-edge", and when I go back to my undefined tool I can see the profile in the bottom-right window. How can I define it? When I go to verify it doesn't show the boat-edge profile either. I'm using 9.1 .Any help appreciated. Thanks.
  17. Thanks alot for the advice. We don't have Mill here but Router does have the 2D swept toolpath function. I learned something new. I couldn't get it to cut longways with the grain though doing it that way. I went with copying the arc a bunch of times and doing multiple contour cuts. The piece came out good. I'm gonna play around some more with that 2D swept toolpathing. It will come in handy for some other stuff they want me to do. Thanks again.
  18. Thanks anyway Travis. I figure I'll just use multiple contour cuts.
  19. I'm fairly new to using mastercam. I've got a handle on 2-D operations for the most part. I'm trying to figure out the ruled wireframe option under toolpaths. Trial and error. I put a file in the FTP Router folder called LMP04-test. I'm trying to put an arched surface on a 12" wide x 42" long piece of poplar. I need the toolpath turned 90 degrees going longways with the grain. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
