Feed recommendation for .125 ball e/m needed

Recommended Posts

I need to run a .125 ball e/m .13 deep in a track about 10 feet long per part. I only have a few parts (304 SS), and I only have 5000 rpm. I was thinking about ramping to depth about .01-.02 deep, but not sure how much chipload it will take. Obviously I want one cutter to make it through a part.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

3-4000 rpm, about 20-30 feed rate, .o1 ramp sounds good. can you rough with a square 1/8 em first, down to a depth of .067 ( .130- radius of ball endmill)? going into solid with a ball cutter puts a lot of pressure on it, by roughing first, the ball will have less to go, and less pressure on it. ( air or oil/air mix would be best, but flood water is 2nd choice)
