  1. is there a way to have a right click option to add comments to the toolpath? like 3mm ball rough , .25 flat finish C'bores?
  2. the older Mcams, you were able to power delete.... press the delete button , press and hold both mouse button and use it like an eraser. plus it had simple sound effects...
  3. had to think long time for a good response....
  4. yeah i have all my tools labeled, i have always added comments for every toolpath. i have to use subs in all my programming, thats why i do it.... keep everything minimized in the Toolpaths manager, and just quick select those like commented operations and then post....i have used that word document in the past as well. maybe import operations already with those tools and comments already inputted?
  5. Anyone know a way in the comments section of the toolpath, to have a right-click menu, that allows you to select predetermined comments? for example: 3mm ball rough or .5mm ball finish?
  6. we use orbits when burning... so we dont need any roughers....spherical orbits.
  7. we mainly design electrodes already with overburn subracted from the electrode. this way we cut at zero, leaving tool libraries standard. on ocassion there are electrodes that cannot be offset in soildworks, then we just subract the overburn from the cutters....it makes all small difference on the geometry, but we like to keep Z zero , at zero.
  8. maybe try the hi-feed option as well
  9. myself i rough, semi, then finish rough with a diamond burr .005/s left, 300ipm 25k rpm semi finish .001/s left finish
  10. when you get to the side, just use a endmill about .500 down. skim both ends. then stand it up on a small dowel or ejector pin on the sidemilled surface. then face cut the ends finished. there are other ways like use a the skim flip turn rotate method, but that is hard to explain in text,
  11. AMD Phenon II X4 820 processor 2.80 GHz 8.00 GB Ram 654bit Window 7 ultimate ATI FireGL V7700 video card
  12. i emailed my rep, and i will see what he comes up with.
  13. 3-4000 rpm, about 20-30 feed rate, .o1 ramp sounds good. can you rough with a square 1/8 em first, down to a depth of .067 ( .130- radius of ball endmill)? going into solid with a ball cutter puts a lot of pressure on it, by roughing first, the ball will have less to go, and less pressure on it. ( air or oil/air mix would be best, but flood water is 2nd choice)
  14. i contacted my reseller and the the only info they send me was already included in the help files. so no real big help there.
  15. i would always drill small (.030 and smaller) with a .001 (Q) peck, with a .005 (p) rapid return height (G83), with a feed of .5 F a .024 drill i personally run it at 9200 Rpm. ( will take longer, but yo will not be busting any drills. ( or a hole popper would work too.)
  16. Does anyone know how to get this function to work correctly? V9 was so easy to use this function, just pick your operations, and click highfeed, only drawback was it locked your toolpaths and required regeneration for any simple changes. I have played with this feature in the past in X4, but it always applied the highfeed to all operations without me selecting them, which gets annoying. To me this is not user friendly. I am sure this has been a complaint before, i just need some help in telling where i should look. thanks, Todd X5 Mill level 3 X5 solids X5 5-axis
  17. ok, simple fix was to turn down/off the graphics acceleration. but now all my other apps a dying....
  18. this also happened to me. I also now get a fixture offset value put in ( e value, running a fadal) and cant not find out where it goes.
  19. I was wondering if you know of a fix to my problem. After I select geometry for a toolpath (doesn’t matter what type, surface, 2d) it takes a very long time for the parameters page to pop up. Sometimes 30 seconds to a minute. It has been getting progressively worse from X2 thru X4. This is very annoying. It also does the same thing after a toolpath is complete, and you try to edit the parameters, it will take 30 seconds to a minute to open up. Mastercam X4 design, Solids, 5 axis machining.
