roll die questions

Long time reader,first time poster here.

 

I'm experimenting with a helix shape cylinder. What exactly does roll die perform, as opposed to regular axis substitution? I see that the tool gets slightly off center at times, but can't tell how it effects the part. Also trying to figure out the round and square corners toggle. I've read the help but would appreciate a few tips and whatnot.

AS I understand it regular toolpaths pass the center line of the cutter through

the center of rotation

roll die sets the edge of the cutter to pass through the center ine
