i have 2 parts that are left and rights.one side is programmed and done.now i just have to mirror it to get the other but when i mirror the chain directions reverse.when i manually reverse all of the chains and regenerate all contours go from left to right.then i have to change them as well.any easy way around this?

are you mirroring toolpaths or geometry?

dont see why problem is if toolpaths are goinng from left to right if tool compesation is ok

 

enable reverse toolpath in mirror dialog box, if you are mirorring toolpaths

V9 this is a problem.

 

Used to suggest you'd only mirror geometry and copy your paths and reset the geometry

I mirror geometry and reverse chains and switch side to cut most of the time. Also if you milling narrow slots you may need to adjust your start point back. Its suck's but I just do it and move on. Sometimes transform mirror toolpath works but make sure the cutter is on the right side before you send it out on the floor.

I always do what JParis indicated. It is safer to just replace the geometry than to hope I did not miss a chain running the wrong direction or a tool offset that I missed. We do a lot of left/right parts and we have found that to be the safest way to do it.
