What determines the tolerance for what for what is considered "vertical tool" in 5-axis post

The "Vertical Tool" is based either on the tool position vector (NCI gcode$ 11) or the Tool Plane Matrix for 3 Axis toolpath types.

 

In the case of the Tool Plane based toolpaths for example, the logic will check to see if the Z axis vector of the Toolplane is '1'. If not, the post now knows the tool plane is rotated.

 

Got any more info on what you are after? If you are trying to control a specific primary axis angle, then you might need to make some post modifications to handle that...
