Max Depth Cuts

I have an Up-Down Router bit which needs a minimum depth of 1-1/8" on the first pass. Say i have a material 1 3/4" thick, therefore i can cut in two rough passes. the max depth is fine if my material is thick enough but at this thick ness it will split the cuts in half. Two passes at 7/8" deep. which mean on my first pass my up cut is not deep enough and can rip up the top of my material. What is there to do??

I would try using two ops

Tell the software to use one finish depth pass of .625, and set the rough depth to 1.75.

 

Then the moves will be what you expect.

Craig that is what I would do as well! I use the finish pass whenever I want the first pass to be deeper like this.

Great to know that I didn't miss something "too" obvious (just a little bit obvious).
