Mazak via Ethernet

I have a Mazak Nexus 510 with a Matrix control, it has no RS232 only an Ethernet jack.

 

I would like to get this up on the network so I can transfer files directly

 

Knowing very little about Mazaks, I come with my hat in hand asking for some direction on setting this up.

Treat it like any other PC you have hooked up to your network. standard windows networking

then you get something like this

ok, so I guess I just need to the get a CAT5 on it, go into the contrl and share that drive, once I do that it "should" be able to be seen on our netwrok

yes, it needs an internal IP, network should do that for you

make sure you share at least these directory's

 

MC_Direct Mode Programs (hard drive side)

and

MC_Machine Programs (memory side)

John, if you want to do it the way Mazak wants you to do it, don't share the MC_Machine Programs folder. Strange things can happen when you drag and drop directly from/to the actual machine programs directory. It's better to load through the DATA IO page.

 

You need to set a computer name and a password, and share the MC_Backup folder. Here are some directions I gave to another guy on Practical Machinist. It's a Fusion control, but it's the exact same process.
