reverse posting

Is their anybody out there that misses the ability to reverse post NC code? My dealer tells me Version 8.1 does not support reverse posting.

All you need to do is load your reverse post.

Try this with rp_ez.pst. Once the post and txt file is loaded you can select Reverse from the menu.

I tried it with my rpfan.pst the reverse comes up and it asks for the nci name..It looks like its going to work, but then I get an error that says rp.exe not found....

I have RP.dll in my Mcam8Chooks dir.

Mp.dlls are getting more sophisticated.

I think all dll files need to be of the same origin.

You may need to install the posts from the CD.

That is a very generic alarm.

In V8.1 the Reverse menu pick was removed from the Post Proc menu and Rp.dll (the reverse post executable) was not included in the installation.

Mastercam reverse posts come from a time without binary NCI file and geometry association. Their functionality is quite limited in the context of V8. People who did use them did so to recapture geometry, but would be faced with lack of precision lost from round off in the NC file.

Rp.dll actually hasn't changed at all since 1999. If you desperately need the functionality grab Rp.dll/.txt and Rpfan.pst/.txt from V8.0.

The Reverse Menu Pick is still there. I did a new Install off of the 8.1 cd. I do appreciate the comment As there are times I need to capture Geometry from Old Nc programs. Would you happen to have any thoughts On thread http://www.emastercam.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000716.html

Thank you for your help, I took the files from V7.2b and copied them to the proper directories in V8.1, reverse posting now works. I use this feature to compare old toolpaths from MasterCam V2.0 and up to new part revisions. Why write new code if the old works? Please consider keeping this feature operational in some fashion in future releases.

i am pretty new at this master cam stuff. i tried to find this rp_ez.pst file as well as the rpfan.pst and the RP.dll but i could not find any of them. do they come with mastercam, or did you have to go thru your dealer? thanks a lot.

They were available with the V8.0 installation. I'm sure your reseller could email the necessary files out if you approached them.

BTW Dave - it also sorts out error problems in arc movements.
