The generic hurco post works great on Ultimax 2 and newer machines. I tried to use it on an old dinosaur bx controlled machine to find it worked fine there too, with only one exception. Whenever the tool made a symetrical arc move in which x was the same value at the beginning and end of the move with only y changing, it would throw up an error, as the new block would omit the x coordinate. The newer machines of course take for granted an uncalled out variable is simply unchanged from the block prior. My question is, how can I adjust my post so that all x and y coordinates are specified from block to block?

francis rite up front im no post guy but... i think if you find the line in your post for pcirout.. make sure it has pxout in the info it should have pxout,pyout,pzout to get all 3 axis in the nc code ..hth maybe some one else will chime in ?????

If you want an X and / or Y output in EVERY circular interp block you can try changing pcirout to pfxout and pfyout instead of the pxout and pyout that is probably there now

Francis, find pcirm in your post and add an * in front of the x and y.

This will force the x and y values every time an arc is output.

Thanks Paul for the bailout! That'll teach me for answering a question without looking at the post first.

 

Sorry for the bad info; Greg and I are both obviously not familiar with the Hurco post. I should've know it'd be completely different from Fanuc, Okuma, Haas, Fadal....

At the top of the post make sure you set the g18 switch to a 1 from a 0 (zero)

Hurco will have a big crash if you dont. Its just a matter of time, and when you filter a toolpath!

The filter will kick out g17 to g19 if needed.

A g18 is backwards in a hurco (at least for most of us)
