CNC Laser

Hello, a company that we do contract work for is using other software for their laser cutting needs but it is out dated and time consuming. I used Mastercam in college a few years back and suggested a possible switch to the program. They are now game for this idea and I was wondering what the best method to burn parts imported from a 3d modelling program would be; wire edm, milling, etc. Thanks In Advance

You want to use the Mill package unless you need automatic nesting, in that case use Router or Router Pro.

Model the laser head as a custom tool so you can see the tool (since the beam is only what, .005 wide?).

The big thing will be the post. I've done posts for lasers and plasma cutters where you need to strip out the Z's and turn shielding gases on/off.

It will be easy for your dealer, but impossible for a novice to make the post. So my advice is the same, call a dealer and get them involved.
