In MCAM LATHE when Selecting a roughing toolpath, tool ignores stock boundary , why?

How is your stock recignition set up in your "rough parameter page"?

Do you mean that the tool is "crashing"?

I have seen this also but thought it was something I was doing wrong since roughing canned cycles are new for me. What happens is the stock can be defined at 3" and the finished part may only be 2", the tool disregards the 3" and starts cutting at 2". Doesnt matter what D.O.C. is.

Go to parameters / rough parameters / stock recognition at the bottom right and make sure to set it to "use stock for outer boundary".

This is not available when using canned cycles.

 

Extend contour to stock is the only option, and it is on.

Thanks for the offer, but I may have it figured out. I have been comparing, in the same file, the difference between using a finish cycle with misc. values - old post way - and a true canned rough cycle. When trying them together it dosent work right. When doing canned by it self its ok.

 

The thing that is strange, however is the lead in/out does not have entry/exit vectors. I have already mentioned this to Greg at Axsys Inc. who in turn was going to notify CNC.

Yes,I thought about this after posting and was too lazy to edit my post.

i am using a toolpaths rough chain

 

stock recognition is blank in rough toolpath parameter page , stock has been defined in job setup and shows up on screen.

 

though if i chain the outer boundary after selecting toolpath chain all works well.

I have had some issues with this as well. My solution has been to add the chain in the Job Setup, Regen the tool path, then go and change the switch to use stock for outer bounday and regen again...

 

Like magic - it works.
