Has anyone else noticed this.The cutter seems to ignore the boundry even with an adittional offset and .01 stock to leave.I was able to work around it by filling in the holes like the other side but to me the cutter should stay inside when cutter comp is inside

You need a surface where the you have the half round opening. Create a line at the ends of the arc and then create Surface Flat Boundary and add that surface to your selected geometry. That usually does it.

Well, Mastercam has some idiosyncrasies and you just met one. I agree that it SHOULD stay inside, but you just have to work around it.

Hi, I can explain this one. You have the Tool containment "Total offset" check box checked. This excludes the tool shape from the inward offset of the containment boundary. If you uncheck this check box and regenerate the rough/pocket operation then the tool stays inside the tool containment boundary (and inside by your additional 0.01 offset). When you uncheck the check box, you might notice the dialog control changes to "Additional offset". This adds half the tool diameter to the offset which keeps the tool inside.

I'll see if we can add more information about this check box to the Help / Field definitions.

thanks bill I never noticed total offset(checked) comes up by default here.Learn something new every day.Still have a hard time understanding what total offset does but I will try to figure it out.
