true 4th axis machining

Trying to machine a true 4th axis tool path on X5, but when i do the A's are not right. I feel that this a setting problem, and maybe a setting is wrong in the machine definition. Any help would be well appreciated, thanks!

More information would help. How exactly are they wrong?

it seems that it starts for example at A250. then goes to A-272. it jumps back and forth to minus and pluses. i am using a 1/4 em to mill a .390 slot

Without more information .. and possibly a file or some pictures to understand what your trying to do its impossible to tell what is going wrong.. from what you have said so far its entirely possible it should be 'jumping back and forth from minus to plus'

 

You have to keep in mind were not looking at your screen and have no idea what your trying to accomplish.

It's going to depend, what kind of path you're trying to use, how your post/machine def is setup......

If you don't use positive and negative angles, make sure your machine definition is set to "signed direction, absolute angle" for your rotary axis. This way, they will all be positive.

On my screwy 5 it has to be positive and negative because going from 15 degrees to 14 degrees will send it around 359. When I figured out what I needed Fastech sent the post to inhouse sent it to fastech and sent it to me and eventually problem solved. My vote is post.
