5 axis machine configuration

Im using Mastercam X and am trying to get 5 axis swarf toolpaths to post properly. The machine in use is a Haas Vf-4 with a trunnion. The trunnion axis are A and B. So it would be a table-table configuration. What has me confused is that there does not seem to be a machine configuration to suit this. The closest one is a table-table horizontal configuration. So my problem is after I make the toolpath I post it and the B axis is replaced with a C axis (that the machine doesn't have). I messed a little bit with editing the machine configurations in the machine group properties and when I thought I had it correctly configured to use A and B as my rotary axis, I get an error saying the machine configuration doesn't allow for that type of toolpath. Any help would be appreciated.

Thats not the entire program but just so you get it. The B axis movements look to be correct but I've got a C axis in there and I'm only working with XYZAB

You must have missed the fact that Mastercam installs with the "Generic Haas VF-TR_SERIES 5X MILL" Machine Definition, Control Definition, and Post Processor. It is literally configured for your exact machine...

Would I find that in the machine type pull down menu? I'm just seeing general fanuc 5x mill.control. Nothing in my machine type definition says haas

When you go to the Machine Type menu, use the "Manage List" function. There should be a copy of that MD/Post that installs by default. You will have to "add" the entry to your list, and then you should be able to select it.

 

As an alternative, if you load "any" 5X machine, you should be able to open the "Machine Group Properties" and do a "replace" on the machine definition file. Just pick the Generic Haas VF-TR_SERIES 5X Mill, and you'll be all set...

I am thinking from his original post, he may be running Mastercam X, the first release.....

 

I don't think the Haas post came standard until X2 or X3

Exactly, I was just about to verify that. Its the first release unfortunately

And believe me I would love to get with the times but I'm not in charge of software purchasing... They just want me to figure this out.....
