Updating NetHooks from X7 to 2017

Can I update my NetHooks for X7 to 2017 using VS2013 or do I need 2015?

Either version of Visual Studio would be fine for NET-Hooks, as they are not dependent on the version of VS.

 

If you are doing C-Hooks, then you must use a specific version of Visual Studio.

For Mastercam X9/2017 that would be Visual Studio 2013.

For Mastercam 2018 that will be Visual Studio 2015.

I think you should be fine, just update the NETHook3_0.dll reference although VS 2015 Community Edition is free for teams of less than 5 and is essentially a Professional Level.

No worries we all suffer from the same fate when we don't work on something for any length of time

 

If you haven't already I would highly recommend downloading the Introduction to NET-Hooks document I wrote a while ago that I have updated recently on Mastercam.com. I also just updated the C# NET-Hook project template for VS2015 that you can download and install from within VS by going to the Tools->Extensions and Updates... menu and searching for Mastercam in the Online section. There is a VB.NET one but its just lacking some updated documents but works fine. I have also been adding some new example projects on Mastercam.com so you might want to grab those as well while you are there.
