Machine and control definition

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am looking to set up a few different machines using the Machine Definition as they are meant to be used. There are only minor differences between the machines, max rpm, tapping, home codes and such. There are posts setup for the differences and right now the guys are changing the post processor rather than changing the machine. I know the Machine is linked to the control and the control is linked to the post. How can I just make copies of what I have and set the links form the machine to the control?

Thanks

Open the Machine Definition in the Machine Definition Manager, and do a "Save As". Rename each copy to match your specific machine.

Do the same thing with the Control Definition file, open the main one in the CD Manager, and save with the same name as the MD.

You can do both processes at the same time for each new copy, by using the "Edit the Control Definition" button inside the Machine Definition Manager.

With the newly renamed Control Definition open in the CDM, press the Post Processor button. In the list, select the existing "linked" post processor, use the delete option at the bottom of the dialog box. Then, use the "add" post processor button to select the new post you want to link. There should only be the "defaults" entry, and the new post you want to link.

After adding you new post, click OK to close the dialog. In the CDM dialog, select the drop down menu for post processor, and choose the new post. This will display a "plus" sign (+) next to the entry. Make your changes to the CD parameters, and then Save the CD.

That links the MD > CD > CD Settings > Post together.

See this thread for some information about setting the CD default values, and why it is important. Consider also performing this task during your setup.

P.S.,

If you are in the CD Manager, you can save time by modifying the process a little:

- first, delete all PP entries from the PP list. Go through the CD parameter and set all the options. This sets the defaults.

-Then add your new PP, select it in the drop down, and save.

See the linked thread for more info...
