Mastercam Post Help

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

New member here, I am not looking for any kind of free post for mastercam but more looking in some help.

I am new to mastercam and messing with post all together, I have a program made and I am trying to figure out how to turn off the 4th axis on it so I can try and run it on my machine,

I have mastercam x8, using a fadal 4020 model 906  3 axis with 88hs controller and just cant seem to figure out how to turn the 4th axis off.

If anyone can help me out a little I would be really appreciative as I have tried to download the mpmaster post here and couldnt seem to get it to get set up and post.

To disable the 4th Axis, all you need to do is create a Axis Combination in your Machine Definition that is "3 Axis Only". (It should have X, Y, Z, Mill Machine Table, and Tool Spindle Components.)

When you program a Tool Path, you can select the Axis Combination.

All of the modern posts that come with Mastercam (or are available through your Reseller, or by download from Mastercam.com Forums) have logic to "detect the presence of 1 or more Rotary Axes". If your machine has no Rotary Components, you get 3 Axis output only. If you have 1 Rotary Component, you get 4 Axis output. If you have 2 or more Rotaries present in your Axis Combination, then using a 4 Axis Post will give you an error, telling you that the Post detected more than one Rotary Axis...
