  1. Are you implying that I shouldn't be asking for help here? I see that there isn't a forum category for support or help. I figured out how to reference a data field that's contained in another tag. The example .XML file (SSM.xml) contains root fields, and "sub" fields. NCFILE-SHORT for example is stored under the NCFILE tag. To access these fields without directly referencing the "recordset pattern" (EX: //NCFILE) you just simple format your DataField variable like this: "NCFILE/NCFILE-SHORT"
  2. Using additional values described above worked but the data you enter in there isn't saved the next time you run it. It would be an awful place to store program revision notes.
  3. I think I found it in the help. Going to export it and report back. How do I pull information such as nc file name (NCFILE-SHORT) into the main setup sheet without creating a subreport? I see that in the xml file referenced by the report document (SSM.xml) NCFILE-SHORT is encapsulated under NCFILE tag. Can I just simply move it? Gonna do some trial and error but I suspect a lot of "Error"
  4. I plan on using MCfSW. In HSMWorks during runtime, the setup sheet program would pull every Custom Property assigned to the solidworks file which the toolpaths are applied to which made it very easy to store and propagate revision information, stock material information, grain direction, etc to the setup sheet and the setup sheet was ready to go. I'm looking to do the same with MasterCAM (particularly MCfSW) so that I can incorporate it into our workflow. It's not immediately clear that I will be able to do that or how I would go about it. Storing this program revision and stock material and size data into the setup sheet dialog would be acceptable as an alternative to storing it in the Solidworks Custom Properties, but there aren't enough fields to accomplish this. (Note1, Note2, Note3) The Solidworks Custom Properties method would be preferred because it has a Custom Property Tab builder that allows the building of drop down boxes, radio boxes, etc to speed up the data entry process. Any thoughts? I am familiar with C# so that's not out of the question. I just don't understand how the information is pushed from the XML file and then to active reports. If I have to create a custom addin or macro that can generate a custom xml file that could work, but I don't know how to trigger active reports. Has anyone done this already? A starting point would be helpful.
  5. I believe the last thing that happened was a windows 10 Edge browser update. I just uninstalled and reinstalled MCfSWit from scratch and all of the updates and it's still failing to load. You have reached the maximum number of posts you can make per day. LOL WAT!!! EDIT: I wiped the registry entry for MCfSW and that fixed it. I guess your uninstaller doens't clear the registry entries correctly. Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CNC Software, Inc.\Mastercam 2020 for SolidWorks
  6. I should have mentioned that I made sure Solidworks CAM wasn't loaded. As part of the troubleshooting I made sure no addins were loading. I also tried loading the addin after SW loads. Same thing. The only headway deleting those files appeared to have made is that there no longer appears to be an unhandled exception in the loading process that crashes SW hard without a loading error.
  7. Latest Version of 2020 solidworks, latest version of MC4SW 2020 Day 2 of Mastercam: Tried deleteting the .workspace files and the .config files and still get same error. Mastercam 2020 opens fine. Worked earlier today and I don't remember the last thing I did. Should I be using 2021 mastercam?
  8. Thanks dudes. Last question for the day: How you import a .sldprt or SW sketch tool geometry? I can't find any documentation on the subject. Orientation? Closed Sketch or open? Drawing on X and Z positive direction SW plane with tool tip and center on origin. "Problem with custom geometry data - line segment on Y axis." Not even true. Tool length must be greater than 0.0. EDIT: I applied the strategies from a video and got it to work.
  9. New user here. Committing to learning MasterCAM as a SolidWorks CSWE and user for 15 years. HSMWorks/Fusion 360 CAM expert, CAMWorks/SolidWorks CAM advanced user. Long ago AutoDesk bought HSMWorks, the cam software exclusive to Solidworks. Now I've been informed by an AutoDesk rep that after stripping out all the code for Inventor CAM, Fusion 360, that they are no longer supporting HSMWorks. Sad. Reminds me of what EA does to game development firms. I guess that's on Dassault for not purchasing them, but I digress. New user to MasterCAM. Always avoided MasterCAM because the idea of doing my CAM outside of my CAD software is silly as having to re-link toolpath geometry every time I revise the model or assembly sounds prone to error and tedious. So I have a few questions regarding MasterCAM for SolidWorks before I commit too hard and get met with sad realities: 1: Are there any deal-breaking missing functionality in MCAM for SW that exists in MCAM? 2: Can MCAM For SW use the same tool libraries, machine definitions, operation libraries as MCAM without causing any issues for MCAM users? 3: Any general thoughts or tips that might help me on my journey? 4: How come it crashes SW when I try to backplot within SW? SW2020 SP3, Latest MCAM 2020 for SW patch. Quadro P4000 with SW approved driver. Tried wiping my SW registry and even the latest unapproved driver. Nothing.
