  1. Hi guys, Thanks for the responses. If I save the solidworks file as a ProE, I can import the file into mastercam without a problem. My specific question is: If, for instance, I have a square part with a bore in the center and I wanted to cut this out of a 1/4" plate of aluminum, how would I go about specifying the toolpaths? Normally I would take a 2D version of the part and just use contour to do the toolpath, but what is the process when its a 3D file? I'm asking because it's a hassle to save as DXF in solidworks, then edit the DXF in autocad, then import into Mastercam. I learned basic Solidworks/AutoCAD from my class, but the rest I'm learning on my own, so I don't really have access to any resources except the software itself. Thanks again!
  2. Hi guys, I'm a mechanical engineering student trying to learn mastercam. Are there any online tutorials available? I'm trying to import a part from solidworks and do some 2.5D machining - usually just cutting out a part from a sheet of material. So far I've been saving the Solidworks file as a DXF drawing then importing the 2D version into Mastercam. Then I just use coutour and set the depth of cut in the menu. I can import the 3-dimensional Solidworks file into Mastercam, but I have no idea how to set the toolpaths for the 2.5D machining I want to do. If anyone could point me to some online resources I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
