  1. thanks a alot guys, what i forgot to mention is that the machine can also run boss 4-6 post it has two diffrent modes. so if this sheds some light on anything let me know... john.
  2. the machine can be in dnc mode it has a diffrent port and everything. my problem is trying to find software that will work with this control. i get it to listen for the program, but i caint get it to actually recive. i have other cnc's , i was just wondering if this could actually work, and if it can is it worth me investing the time. i have gotten the communication specs from bridgeport. but it still wont recive the program. im really trying to find somebody that has already done this. thanks john
  3. HEY EVERYBODY, i have been trying to dnc my old bridgeport mill the mill name is the R2E3 and it is a boss8 control. i have all of the cables. but the software is giving me a problem. i have tried everything i can find about dnc on google. does anybody have any success with this? my main goal is to drip feed prog to the machine. this is so i can do larger pieces and probably some surface and solids cutting. i know it is an old mill but everything on it is good and the control works fine. it dosent have a floppy so everything has been transfered directly through 9 pin serial, using mastercams communication software. i have talked to others about this and they were praticly laughing, saying it is impossible. but any help or advice would help. thanks john.
  4. thanks everyboby for your info, it will be used, for now i am just changing the bar when i need to. but im still looking for a better solution. jrs machine....
  5. HEY GUYS, wondering if anybody out there can shed some light on this. i just got my brand new compaq laptop. (r3000t)its got an ati 9000 igp card with 128 mb of memory and i have 2 gb of ram. i know ati isn't the best card for mastercam, but when i use mastercam, the program is jerky and lags. so what i did is i turned down my hardware acceleration. this fixed the problem, but it now causes a problem with my screen saver and other programs that use 3D. so i was wondering if there is anyway to just turn down the acceleration for mastercam. and leave everything else alone. i palyed with open gl and direct 3D but that didnt affect anything. any help would be deply appreciated.
  6. hey, i have been building my own computers for a while also, if you are looking at the athalon 64's thats a good thing.very nice processor. but the only thing that i would worry about is the compatability with mastercam. mastercam is generaly run on a 32-bit platform (windows), and i would try to do some reading on problems with it, another thing is parts, i usaly use a company called tigerdirect, or one of the other big hardware companies. as for n-vidia, i am running a gforce fx 5200 right now with 256mb of video memory, its not the newest thing out there but it is a good stable card. try to stay away from onboard video controlers, they usally use shared memory, which means they take away from the systems memory, also try to get as much ram as possible and as much video memory as possible. i am using right now 2gb/256mb.... that will definetly boost your performance john
  7. also, im not sure if im doing something wrong or what but for as long as ive been on here, i could not connect to the ftp. dose anybody else have this prob.
  8. THANKS FOR THE HELP, and thanks for letting me know about the name, i wouldn't of picked it up for probably a month. i will lookinto that book and probably buy it. john
  9. HELLO EVERYONE !!!! I just wanted to say that i think that this forum is the best thing on earth, i just found out about it a week ago and i have learned a bunch of stuff already. anyway my question is about 4th and 5th axis machining. do any of you know of a good book or online page that would clear up a couple of things for me. i have been on three axis machines for years, and mastered that part of mastercam, but i just can not get the hang of tilting tables, or roatery heads... another thing that isn't helping me is the fact that i dont have a 45h or fifth axis machine to toy with. thanks alot john.
