  1. I'm new to mastercam but am charged with setting up knowledge libraries for the shop manufacturing system. We used to use a package called NC Polaris that ran inside autocad. I have already built extensive knowledge libraries that were very effective into that platform, but the limitations on 3d shape work have forced us into mastercam. We are a tool and die co. Most of our stuff is rectangles with drilled, reamed, c'bored & tapped holes. All onesy twosy stuff. All of our holes are coded... "cb28" for a c'bored 9/32 hole "rh25" for a 1/4 reamed hole "th25" for 1/4 tapped hole etc.... Ok so with that said here are some of my questions... 1.) I've made operation groups the same name as the hole coding and created the cycles inside. This keeps everything organized in the browser but seems to make it difficult to manage 2 or more complex programs in the browser at once. Shouldn't there be another level of treeing capability in the browser like assy' modelers? Like you could name a "program" group and have operation groups underneath it. Am I missing something here? 2.)Is there a fairly automatic way to get "Z" axis depths into the cut cycle without having to imput them manually? As I understand it the only other way is to take time out to place all the geometry you plan to cut at the finished depth before selecting it. Seems a little laborius, any ideas for a new user? Thanks in advance to anyone willing to give a long winded rookie a little advice!
