  1. I agree Ron, getting the run out is critical to the success of this operation.

The indicator spring is stronger than the flex of the drill tip. I don't have an optical tool pre-setter.

I will increase the sfm. back up to 80 and change the entry and exit of the long drill.

a polished parabolic, mineral spirits and kerosene are not an option at this time.

How would you address the peck amount?

What do you think about the feed per rev?

  2. I'm drilling .5 deep with a stub drill and following up with

mid hangout (3.0) aircraft drill to drill 2.75 deep

and then a long hangout aircraft drill to go 3.5dp.

start the drill @ 500 rpm feed into pilot hole ramp up rpm to 3056 , coolant on and continue with drill cycle.

the drill broke during the deep part of the hole.

run out is .0007 @ collet. and a few thou at tip.

The challenges are "no" coolant thru, VMC, & Cleveland twist aircraft drill as only option.

wall thickness is .033 and the holes intersect an the bottom.

currently running 50 sfm, .01 peck  feed is .001 per rev.

how would you improve this operation?

  3. I'm attempting to learn about the wsec, tcp and twp using a  Fanuc 31i A5 control and the challenge is I don't see any specifics in the manuals that came with the machine (doosan dnm 350 5/ax),

do any of you guys know the part # of the manual that defines these functions?

  4. Thank you Ron,

I was being a little facetious with my buddy Mike,

    I agree with,

Your senses are your best programming tools. Being able to interact with the machine makes you a better programmer. Seen many programmers make the claim they are great programmers that cannot even turn a machine on. Sorry best way to be a good 5 axis programmer is to be a 5 axIs machinist, operator and set-up person. Be able to do all of that and the 5 Axis programming will just be a lot easier to grasp and get done in a better more involved way.

I don't see myself getting out of the shop any time soon.

we have a doosan dnm 350 /5AX  with a 31i A5 control on order and I will be the guy.

I'm doing the research on training and checking available resources and want to get going down the right path.

    Thank you for you advice!

  5. So I screwed up with my macro number, I was dyslexic the number I stated was 9687 and should be 9867.

Robk, Looks like your info. was right out of the manual. Thank you so much.

even with 9867 could it be a custom set-up?

    the control is an 18i-Mb.

  6. Yes Cathedral, Renishaw .

It has consistently alarmed out at night during lights out operation.

I wasn't sure if it allowed for pullout.

    Thank you for clarifying.

Have you ever used a big number like H-.125 or H-.25 to allow for chips?

  7. Can someone with tool detection experience help clarify the correct method of using G65 P9867?

    our current method is G65 P9867 H-.015

I would like to know if this handles "pull out" , "breakage detection".

Do I need to call it out another way?

    Thank you in advance

  8. Wox,

    verify selected operations

    verify tab

    compare

select options button in the compare box

    set to .075 for metric

    press ok

after you change from 3 to 5 axis in the

    file tab

    options

    then save to defaults

verify the correct path, close it and when it opens make sure it is the default file you just saved to.

    I hope this helps
