  1. Paul, if I understand you correctly your talking about the lay down profile inserts that cut a specific thread profile. I'm using a standard 60 degree insert for UN/UNC threads. A very minimal radius (.005-.010 max). I set the minor dia. in Mastercam, I even fudge more than the actual minor dia. Shouldn't it cut to those depths? I have even lied about the radius at the machine to make it cut deeper with sketchy results.
  2. Thanks Mike. I'll be waiting with baited breath. We don't use our lathe all that much but it's a problem we just haven't been able to resolve. Let's hope HAAS has an answer!
  3. What is the best method you've found? I've had mixed results using WEAR settings on the controller or increasing the tool radius to make it cut deeper, but it's also a pain in the #@% to change parameters in Mastercam and always have to repost.
  4. I'm consistently having problems cutting threads. We have a HAAS toolroom lathe and are running X4. Using the default settings and even adjusting the minor dia. allowance more than the tables call for the threads never cut deep enough. I've fudged it by increasing the tool radius and/or altering the minor dia. with mixed results, but it seems I should be able to cut some threads without having to guess at the parameters. Any one else have this problem or have any suggestions?
  5. Continuing with the HST questions.... where do you define the Home position? My only guess is that it's somewhere in the Stock Setup. (Should I start a new topic to go down this road)?
  6. I'm new to the forum and High speed toolpaths. Has anyone used these on a mill where you can't run the high speeds and feeds? Obviously I can just slow everything down, but then would it be just as efficient to run the old toolpaths? I'm in an R&D Test Lab and cycle times aren't always a priority with us, but we would like to at least try to stay competitive. Thanks, and please be gentle
