  1. Unfourtunetly we are at the mercy of the software maker.I have been around Master Cam one way or the other since 1987 and have found every up grade to be benificial but I will tell you and challenge any one out there that a programmer with an equal amount of training on 9 or x can get the job done in about the same time.
  2. Chris will Design light allow us to bring up a file with surfaces and print it without using a hasp?
  3. Chris how is the snow were you guys are we will be comming in for refresher class but will probably wait till warmer weather.
  4. We wont spend the money on X for the machine shop. Will try design light and yes we have a good amount of snow how about you. We have a set up guy going to Ithaca in two weeks to work.
  5. We recently switched from Master Cam Ver 9 to MX2. We have 5 licensees all going thru a Nethasp. After we program a part we make a inspection drawing and save it as a Mill 9 drawing. This is for our machine dept so they can print up the drawing and check the part. The file has no machine groups. If we try to open a Ver of Mill 9 and we have all our MX seats open it tells us we don’t have any more licensees available. We don’t want to spend for another seat of X to print these drawings up. Does any one know off a legal way to get the drawings with GEO and surfaces to print with out setting off the Hasp?
  6. WOOD 27 We use both a zoller presetter and Mastercam all are tools have been drawn up in Mastercam and we have a text file describing the tool in zoller we treat them diffrent. Are set up people pull up the zoller file and we have a ID number and description when they measure the tool the appropriate offsets are put in. We have a catalog of over 450 tools we each took turns at working on the library we have 4 programmers here and it took about 3 months.
  7. greetings every one I have another question from a new X user.In 9 when we went to verify a part with mutiple depths & using multiple cutters we could set the paramaters to change the color of the cut and toolpath but when two cutters went to the same Z depth the floor would change to the new cutter. With X2 we are not getting the z depth color to change with the new tool. we rely on this alot to look for any leftover material not cleaned up by the smaller cutter. Can any one help with a sugestion.
  8. Thanks for the help have a good day.
  9. We took classes last year on X I am partial to 9 but our company has the service & maintenance agreement so we must follow along.
  10. In master cam 9 you could select a drill point using center on the menu to the left. With X & X2 they have the auto cursor. With some of our progects its easier not to get into trouble having the cursor snap to a different point. is there a way to set it to just center point?
  11. Does any one out there have a tip on stoping a cutter in between moves to let material cool off. I am cutting some thin aluminum with a 3.0" face mill and the material is taped to a flat table. as the part heats up it melts tape making part unstable. I wasnt sure if you could put a p dwell like in the drill cycle to let part cool off.
