quote:huh!?! must been programming on his lunch break
I think he has a mind control box w/X on it.

Anthony you have well serving gauntlet here. to you for facing the problem and ultimately helping us both.
-
It's actually straight scotch or beer, I just like stone faced humor.

quote:Thanks for your support.
I was actually quoting the Bartles and James company, but we will go with Bill Withers if that makes you fuzzy Chris

For those of you that have been watching, Anthony Graves has just spoken with me about the long awaited quote. I now have the quote and Anthony has explained the dropped balls to my satisfaction.
THIS IS THE OFFICIAL UNTRASHING OF ANTHONY & CIMCO
I will look forward to all of your DNC 5 Max comments in the future as this package is rolled out.
Thanks for your support.

Will that not change the direction in the post also. I run a pocket routine that runs fine then rolldie to clean up the walls. If both are set the same I get a reverse pattern on the actual part and it verifies correct. Inversly if I reverse the rolldie pattern it verifies backwards and cuts the part correctly. Already scrapped one part this way and would like very much not to do it again.
Thanks
-
Hi all, Any clue why my verifier would rotate a part backwards from the way it posts. Only in rolldie does it do this.
Thanks

I like to threadmill from the top down on right hand thread (G2) engaging only one tooth but I mostly cut hard steel. If you only have .005 clearance and you use 5 or 10 ipm the hole will be cut supersonic might only look like it wiggles a little and will take a super acurate machine to make a complete thread. Also if you engage all of the tool (bottom up) where are the chips of the initial cut going to go? just my .02

Chris you've got mail

I figure Anthony is aware of this, he is the one who won't give me the quote. I got him in the loop right away and it got me nowhere. I must be asking the wrong questions like how much will I have to pay for the software. Oh wait, I'm trashing a reseller and hyjacking a thread. Sorry I'll try not to post in this thread again.

quote:Try it for a month and see if it works for you.
I tried to buy it and couldn't even get a quote. Might be the best software in the world but I can't prove it?
-
Thanks John. I think I have it sorted out now.

I have a model being generated as we speek from Houston. They will not get solidworks but they do have Inventor. I have solidworks at home and know how to produce this model, I just had hoped to use mcam.

John, this part has a varying slot width I am trying to figure a way that I can create a several centerlines for each of the slot width's but when we hit the open triangular shapes it hurts my head
Is there a more appropriate toolpath I should be using?
-
Sorry John, I didn't see your response.
quote:Offset all the walls by .5 in. This will make the long slots just a centerline. Then use the slot option in ROLLDIE.I tried to offset the walls by rad (.25) but you're saying .5 the a slot width of 1.00?
I will try that. I think I would x-form offset contour .5 to inside then delete duplicates for the areas that are 1.00 total?
Thanks
-
Not the muleshoes louie, those are easy.
Ron I tried to offset the chain by the tool rad. and it didn't help. Do you have an example of what you're talking about, breaking it up into 2 chains. Also I am searching for a way to create a model by extruding this patern into the side of my stock. My local reseller-tech support is telling me "huh". If you have a solution for making this model I would love to hear it. If I could make a model I would swarf by surface.
Thanks for looking

I need some basic rolldie help if anyone has a little time. I have posted my trouble file on the ftp @mcx_fliesJslotblues.MCX. The trouble I am having is when I finish my pocket rough I clean up the walls with rolldie. The finished pockets need to be parallel with the adjacent wall. This part has a pin that runs down through the j-slot and obvously needs a parallel wall to keep from wearing the tip of the pin.
Thanks in advance.

Brad, we use what you're talking about quite often (one running in a setup this morning) use a standard lathe bar with a negative rake, positive rake will hit the bottom side of a reversible insert but the good news is its somewhat rare to actually find a positive rake bar. relieve the non-cutting side of the bar with a grinder to the desired depth of cut and viola, custom thread mill. For verify I just use a standard e-mill def. to save time.

Mark and Dan have the right path. I personally havn't tried Kenna... Also I have had luck with the Metal Removal Maestro line through J&L. 350-450 sfm work with rc35 or below with a stable setup box ways wet or dry. 200sfm for 13 chrome or hyper chrome or stainless. Also I have recently been using hydraulic milling holders-awesome.

Long Hours, intense consentration, a willingness to succeed, an employeer with great patience, a seated programmer walking out, a couple of reseller classes, and effective stress relief after work. All that and after 9 years I'm still learning daily.
Welcome These guys and gals are great as long as you don't ask for a finished post or a hacked version!

I got the same response from Cimco with the same reserve. It is advertised on their web site but I was assured that it was not supported. I was told that it is bundled with other software and up and running in Europe, but then I can't even get a quote. I like other Cimco products but am drawing a blank on sales on this one. I also am looking at Cadem. I have used their DNC dripfeed products 4 years ago with great and flawless results. I'm always nervous about dripfeed but it just worked. Cadem is currently working up a quote for me.
Thanks for your interest

Cadcam
So there is really no benefit to purchasing Cimco brand products when we already are running Mastercam?
What do you think of the Predator line of products?
Thanks
-
John, sorry about the long away (wife surgery...) to answer your question I wasn't satisfied with the quote from Cimco. It was non existent! I was told the guys whole computer system "crashed" and he had my quote freshly completed when this happened. He assured me though that if I would forward my e-mail address back to him (apparently the crash took my address with it) that he would rush me a quote the next day. I e-mailed him back the 6th and today is the 25th. I like the Cimco products they include with Mcam (however spartan) but I get suspicious when I can't even get a response on a quote. I also find this discussion about predator very interesting
5AX, Have you looked at any other brand of MDC software, also I understand that if you change the right bit in the right parameter macro-b jumps to life.... if only.

I'm looking at buying Predator MDC and editor currently, I would be interested in seeing what you find.

I would jump in and try, however my company is too cheap to maintain so it will have to be posted in MR1 of V9 for me to open.
