When getting files in X@. how can you change the layout to "Details" and have it stay that way every time it is opened. It always reverts back to Large Icons.

We are currently running X on a Pentium 4 with a Gig of ram and Nvidia Quadro FX500 video card. I would like to get a little more speed out of X. I would like to go to dual processors but I know the software has to be written to take advantage of this type of system. In a recent user group meeting we were told that the next update will allow X to process in the background while still working with the geometry on screen. Will this take advantage of a dual system? Does anybody have insight, knowledge or thoughts on this? Any advice to gain speed is appreciated (processor, video card, etc.) Thanks!!
