  6. Well the forged blank looks like the way to go, a billet piece 20x20x10 is $1200. I can't seem to find a place to purchase these blanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Thanks, I don't think our VF0 has the travel to machine the outer ring with the part laying down. The project is a chopper between the machine shop and welding shop, the entire bike will have a disclaimer.
  8. I've taken on the job of machining 18"-20" chopper rims from billet aluminum. I plan on mounting a rotary table in the vertical position and running a surface parallel toolpath for 180 degrees then rotating the part. Were still working on ideas for the rim pattern and hub mount. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Future?

I was a Machininst/Welder in the Air Force for four years, I've taught school for nine years and recently ran an Okuma VMC for about six months. I would like to program and run the machine to gain a more in depth knowledge of the various parameters and setting, especially in solids. Haas, Okuma and Milltronics would be the machines that I have the most experience. Autocad and Mastercam 9.0 are the software packages that I'm most familiar with.

    Future?

I'm a machining instructor in southern Ohio and I don't think this teaching thing is going to last through retirement. Our student enrollment is declining steadily. I'm proficient at Mastercam but by no means an expert, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a shop I could work in this summer to further develop my skills. Will travel.
  11. I teach at a Career Center with great audio/visual capability, could anyone possibly do a videoconference with us on Mastercam? Need to know: Working with solids, Engraving on 3D surfaces, better efficency
  12. I am trying to lay letters on top of a 3D sphere. The file is stop.mc9 and is located in the mc9 folder. If someone could explain the steps that it takes I would appreciate it.
  13. Hey I didn't get your e-mail, please send it again.
