  1. IE7.0 security issue. Pics have to come from the same local directory by default, lest some evil-doers hack your system...just put the pic source directory on the network drive you post your .html files to.
  2. I've searched but did not find anything that could help. Is there a fix?
  3. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that after a while, the display menus for colour or chain selection start to slow down after a while. We have several seats of MCX MR2 and different nVidia cards (driver 9.1.4.7) and they all do this. The only way to speed things back up is to restart MCam. Is there some magical setting I am missing, or is this just the status quo? I have been playing around with different settings but nothing seems to help. When changing colours, the little boxes take forever to display. Any input would be appreciated.
  4. Is there a way to change the sorting order and filter setting in a tool library? I have to always click on "diameter" then "tool type" to list the tools in the order I want. Otherwise I have to look for a 1.000" endmill along with a whole other bunch of 1" tools....ect. This used to be modal in 9.1 ie. the sort order was left as whaterver it was the last time. Now I have to sort the tools with every operation. Any suggestions?
  5. Downloaded MR2 with 10 days left on maintenance. Woo Hoo.
  6. Newmarket, Ontario. It's just too bad that drafting entitties aren't included.
  7. We get lots of messy prints from designers that that look good on paper but are a mess in CAD. Sections and dimensions are on many different Z heights. The squash function in MC9.1 was pretty good at cleaning it up, except for dimensions and crosshatching. That could be fixed by scaling the dimensions by X1.0 Y1.0 Z0.0. How come in MX you can't scale by 0? And whatever happened to the squash function? Are we now stuck using project and cleaning up the geometry?
  8. I guess I'll bite the bullet and ask the annoying question...Any idea of the release date for MR2?
  9. Hey, I just call them as I see them. You can't obviously belive that the first release of the X product was ready for distribution. I have been programmming for 16 years, and I have NEVER hesitated recommending Mastercam until X. No software is perfect, but pressure for sales can really screw things up. I have 4 people waiting for the go ahead to program in X. I hear bitching about the interface, problems with settings, and whining about mouse clicking. But until I get the demo so that the machine operators on the floor can at least see what they are doing, I will not take the chance on screwing up multi-million dollar tooling for a learning experience. And given the fact that I have had to patch and re-install a few times, I am not going to run around and install on all of our terminals until the product is STABLE and RELIABLE. As for the surface to solids problems, I will zip and forward to In-House for their review.
  10. Using Dynaform too. You shoul send me and e-mail so we can pick each others brains for some simulation stuff. (tmeszaros at eurospectooling dot com) Runs fast as hell without hyperthreading! Hit Ctrl+Shift+Esc for task manager and click on the performance tab. If you have a single CPU with hyperthreading, you will see two boxes. If you have dual CPU's with hyperthreading, you will see four boxes. You have to get into the BIOS on startup to turn it off.
  11. Hyper threading in really useless for any CAM software. We recently got a box with 2 Xeon processors for forming simulation software, so I started looking into how we could improve some of the processing times. The results were really impressive. Mastercam can run 60% faster with hyperthreading turned off. This should really be put on the first page of the installation manual. IN BIG RED LETTERS!! Typical 3D form block processing time with hypertheading: 22 min Without hyperthreading: 13 min. Save about 2 hours a day * 5 seats = over 170K a year at shop rate
  12. Is there any chance a new demo will be released. The original is crap and can't open the files from MR1. And is there a fix coming for surface to solid conversion any time soon?
  13. Had the demo installed for a while, but if you update then you will no longer be able to see solids (and other problems). Machine operators can no longer see what the programmers see. Kinda sucks. Mastercam should really have a viewer, even if it isn't free.
