  1. hello all, can anyone tell me how to change the default values in the (mainmenu)job setup/tool offset registers section. when I first start, the defaults are length=1 diameter=20. I want it to read length=0 diameter=0 when I first start. any help would be nice.
  2. Greetings all, I'm trying to open up an old GE3 file (with v8.1) but I get "incompatible version run file converter" I used to see something in the file/converters/next menu section but I don't see it now unless maybe that was v7 I'm thinking about. So how else can I open an old ge3 file with v8.1 thanks for all the help oscar
  3. Thanks rekd, turning off the "show path" in backplot did the trick. BTW, you must've worked at palomar systems up the hill from us... thanks again, scar
  4. Hey all, I'm trying to do a time estimate using backplot. Its a surfacing tool path that takes about 3minutes to run on backplot. when i do a quick tool path(simple periphery), I get a time estimate. when I run the surface tool path that takes a while to run, after it finishes, the bottom field says "saving .nci file" and I get no results. Is there a way for this not to happen? my autosave is set to 5 minutes but the tool path doesn't take that long. Thanks for the help! scar
  5. well I guess that explains why it doesn't work! any MC c-hooks out there that do sprockets maybe??
  6. Hi guys, Has anyone used the MC Gear c-hook succesfully? Im inputing the dim that I do know. like outside dia.,pitch dia.,number of teeth, and root rad. I need to know the pressure angle(or formulato get), and root dia. (or formulato get). Some values automatcaly change others(i.e.diametral pith)when pitch dia. is input. I am trying to draw an American standard tooth form sprocket (no. 80 chain)with not much luck. my head wants to explode if I use the formulas in the machinist handbook thanks for all the past, present and future help. scar(aka octhesax) [ 06-04-2003, 02:28 PM: Message edited by: octhesax ]
  7. thanks nominal that makes sense(I think) we have finished that job and what I had to do is edit the program. when there is an "A"move with an x and y, I put "F500." when just and x and y move, "F50." so thats how I got around it. thanks for the explanation. every bit of info helps. regards, oscar
  8. Thanks marc, that link shed some light on my problem. I shall experiment. scar
  9. HI guys, I need some input here. I'm doing some fadal 4th axis work (cam tracks on a cylinder with cyclodial motion) and I'm trying to set my zero in mastercam to be the same as the machine "A" axis zero. I have done other parts before but the A axis zero is not the same. I always need to put in a workcoordinate A axis offset(i.e. 90deg) to match up to my program "A" zero. In mastercam, I set A0( at the top. But when I backplot, the part rotates before the cut starts. It traks in the right place and the output is good. I just want to know if there is a way to get the same zeros. thanks for any input guys, scar
  10. HI TREVOR, KELLY SAYS HI BACK. I KNOW DON ACKERMAN VERY WELL(WORKED WITH HIM FOR 5YRS), IN FACT I TOOK OVER HIS POSITION. I KNOW THAT THIS IS BEYOND HIS KNOWLEDGE(NOT A PUT DOWN,I JUST KNOW THE THE GUY ITS JUST THAT THE PROBLEM IS IN THE POST PROCCESOR. THERE WAS A FEEDRATE LIMIT IE="maxfrdeg : 300 #Limit for feed in deg/min" #WAS SET TO 150. SO I JUST NEED TO MESS WITH IT AND TWEEK IT. WE DONT HAVE POST THAT WORKS RIGHT OFF THE BAT. AS WE HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE...BUT THERE IS A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING. WISH ME LUCK AND THANKS FOR ANY HELP GUYS. P.S SORRY FOR THE CAPS OSCAR
  11. thanks james for the input, Its starting to make sense. just gota play with it till I get it right I guess. p.s. do you really look like like the picure I chuckle every time I see it(nno ofense) oscar
  12. HI CADCAM, I'm just I made change in post and right now I'm just waition to get on the machine as it is being used at this time. Hopefuly you can remember how you got around to fixing your problem before. thanks, oscar
  13. HI Jay/ aka CadCam, You have the best explenation yet:) can you explain to me how then I would go about fixing this? Do you think it is the way our post is set-up or do you think it is in the FADAL parmeters itself. I'm not too clear on how that inverse time works. can you point me in the right direction. Is there a certain formula to use to get all axis to move at a constant feed rate? Is there a setting in MASTERCAM? I noticed it spit out G93 codes. according to the FADAL manual explanation, it is for controls that did not interpolate XA or YA moves. maybe we dont need it? I looked in the post and this is how it was set: "use_frinv : 1 #Use Inverse Time Feedrates in 4 Axis, (0 = no, 1 = yes)#WAS 0" I changed it to 1 before I posted thinking it might fix things. but I think I tried it before(a couple weeks ago) I made the change in the post and got the same results. I would really apreciate any help can offer. just for kiks i included a sample of what my test program looks like. I striped all the feeds except for the first one. the post spit out feeds on every line that were the same. except for a few different ones. thanks again Jay, err' I mean CADCAM. thanks, oscar
