  1. Thanks for the help,I'll open it when I get to work.
  2. I didn't know the print would get me in trouble, maybe I should remove it,or try to edit it. I have made this part free hand, but would have liked to cut a cavity, but couldn't draw it with my software, don't have enough knowledge.
  3. My boss didn't want to pay for solids on my Mastercam V8 back then, just like he = said if I want to learn the cnc, heres the book, same with Mastercam, now he i= s ready to retire and don't invest in the company anymore,we have to use wh= at we have,I just am trying to learn as much as I can about using this soft= ware, most of our work is 2D.I do what I have to to keep the place in busine= ss,I've been there to long to leave now.
  4. I have an old version,V8 and am having trouble blending a fillet on a part from 1/8r to 1/2r , any help out there would be great. I need to draw this part in 3d. I removed the file, because I had trouble editing the cofidentuality stuff off, have to go to work now, will try later to repost the print. riley.pdf
  5. How do I write a program for a Haas VF3 mill, that makes the z axis repetitively just push down in one location, without going home or rotating the spindle? I have a polyurethane bumper I make and it has a slot thru it to add some cushion,my customer says the bumper is cracking at the ends of the slot after time. We have no way to test a new mix we want to use,so my boss had me built a fixture that holds one bumper in the spindle and the other in the vise, the he wants me to have the machine costly just push the two together to see if and when it fails. I figured out how to program the Haas to repetitively push the two together, without sending the axis home every time, but the spindle keeps orienting.Do I get rid of the M6,even thou it has the proper tool # for the length offset? Have to get rid of the orient.
  6. My current hasp plugs into the serial port , my new computer does not have one,it has usb ports. How can I get the hasp to work on the usb ports? Do I have to get a new hasp?
  7. Why can't I convert a parasolid file? I am using version 8.1. Can anyone help me covert a file? [ 04-17-2009, 10:52 AM: Message edited by: Riley ]

    Tapping

    At 250 rpm,what feedrate should I use for a m6 by 1 helicoil tap?
  9. I need to tap A m6 by 1 thread into polyurethane, does anyone know the feedrate in inches per minute,at 250 rpm for a helicoil insert. I don't know how to figure it out from metric to english, and for a helicoil tap?
  10. I am still using MC8.1 and I recieved an iges file of a part I have to make, the part needs to be made in 3 pieces.I tried to trim to a plane, but it does not trim all the surfaces to that plane. It only trimmed away the surfaces that had edges on that plane line.I feel I am using to outdated software for the file that was givin to me.The file that was supplied has no wire frame, and I am not a cad cam guru,my boss has more confidence in me than I do.

    Warnings

Sorry I meant to write boundries do not lie in construction plane. What are boundries?
  12. I am still using 8.1,what does it mean when I get a "warning boundry does not lie in construction plane".
  13. Will mcam8.1 run on windows xp? I get message hasp not found.
  14. Most of the engraving I have done,I used a small ball endmill.
  15. I have drawn the taper hole, then just used a parrallel suface toolpath to cut it.It is probably not the best way ,but it works. I have used .5 deg. inc. to go the dia. around.
