  1. Thanks Hockey Guy. JMC - Our IT department packages everything together and then dumps it into what they call a Program Installer. This is how we do all our software installs. I never see the installation disks. I was told this afternoon that the Catia translator was included in the installer and it was the one that came with Mastercam (CNC Software). Is there a way of checking that the translator was included? Again, I can open up Catia files fine in X5 as long as those 2 files in X4 are still installed.
  2. Supposedly, but I will double check that. Thank you.
  3. Hello, We have recently installed X5 on the same computer that we were using X4 on. I was able to open up Catia files in X5 just fine until I uninstalled X4. I have narrowed down which file X5 is looking at by process of elimination - C:\mcamx4\COMMON\catiadata\lib3dx\intel_a - and the 2 files in there are (code and resources). If I delete these out of the X4 folder, X5 is unable to open up Catia files but I can delete everything in the X4 folder but these 2 files, the Catia files open fine in X5. In the X5 configuratiion I see that the "Default Component Library" file is pointing to "ALL COMPONENTS MM.GMD" in X4. Everything else that I checked is pointing to X5. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am only on her during 3rd shift So I will try to respond to any questions as soon as I can. Thank you.
  4. Thanks for the response. I do not usually just copy and paste files but by the time IT looks at it, X6 will be out.
  5. I am wondering if anyone actually knows what this "Insert.TBL" file does. I was getting the error everytime that I opened X5. I ended up copy the "Insert.TBL" file from X4 and put it in X5, this seems to have stopped the error from coming up. I am wondering if doing this will cause another program down the road. By the way, we do not use Mcam Lathe.
  6. Pete Rimkus, Thanks for the offer. My company has a pretty strict policy on sending part files out. I did email my reseller about this issue last friday and they responded back with a request for the file. I am hoping they will be able to figure it out. I did find an .igs file that did open up correctly. I am not sure if this means anything but the files that did not open up correctly used the sending CAD system = I-deas 3D IGES Translator 12 while the .igs file that did open up correctly used the sending CAD system = I-deas 3d IGES Translater 10. Maybe the problem is with the newer translater 12. I will post when this gets figured out and if it doesn't, then I will try getting approval from the powers that be to send you a file to look at.
  7. Neil Qwerty - I did clear colors and in the Configuration-Colors I have "Use entity colors" selected. By the way, I read in a .step file and it does the same thing.(X2 it reads in correctly and X3 it reads in as one color.)
  8. Thanks, I will check into that when I go back into work Sunday night. I do not believe that I have checked that yet. I will post when I find out.
  9. Nevermind, I see what that does. It should not be active and I see how that could create the problem that i am having. Thanks anyways.
  10. Actually, the active box in "Entity Attribute Manager" is unchecked. Should it be active?
  11. I forgot to mention, when I open up an X2 part file, the colors are correct.
  12. When I read in an iges file, the part comes in as one color. This only happens when I am using X3. If I read in the same iges file using X2, the part comes in correctly. All the settings in X3 are the same as X2. I did do a search on this problem but have yet to find a fix. Any ideas ? I am using X3 on windows XP Professiional x64 bit. This also does the same thing in X3 MU1
  13. Ok, I had the .NC set to "1" but the MCX set to "T". That was the problem. Any other suggestions on the first problem?
