I bought Mastercam in 1998 and they issued me a white parallel port hasp

At some point I had to exchange it for a purple USB hasp

I never had any trouble with either of them.

I have heard that a hasp will self terminate if you change the date/time on a PC with a hasp installed

    Obviously, I've never tried that

It won't self terminate but it will throw an interesting error that will require a call to dept that works behind a heavy armored door, weird thing is we know folks work in that room but we never see em go in and never see em leave

I believe this will be improved functionality for companies that have network licenses and VPN's

and a huge loss of functionality for independents  and small firms running USB hasps.

The loss of stick a hasp in your pocket and go portability is going to be very inconvenient for a lot of people

I guess it all depends what side of the coin you call,..

Been running software codes for over a year now, still have a hardware key for running legacy Mcam
No lost or broken keys, it's installed on my Mcam computer

I have had the same key for +12yr and never broken it, we a had an AE @ another reseller that broke multiple keys in 6 months

This could work great for my employer, but for myself, I need something I can stick in my pocket and take with me

Perhaps checking the license out to a USB stick, driving to a customer, then loaning their PC my license so I could

    work???

No it doesn't work like that G. The borrowing utility uses the CMeter Network license and checks it out from the server or licensing computer and writes it to the local CMeter utility on the Mcam client computer. The Mcam client computer then uses the license as if it were a single use local software key. Currently a user can check the license out for a maximum of 10 days.

    Windows 10 Pro, build 19041.388

Notify me only when apps try to make changes to my computer

Looks like .net framework is 4.8, which I think is the most recent.

go to the Windows OS build info, you can get to it from the update history page, V1909 is the preferred build, V2004 did some goofy nonsense MSoft may have straightened it out by now, haven't decided to take a run at that windmill yet

set your user account settings to never notify

yes Net Frame 4.8 is the latest

We have a net license (until next week, going to a dongle) and it retrieves it off the server when I VPN into the work network.

To my next question, Whats the process I use to switch from NetHasp to plug in dongle?  I received it today, just with instructions to send our NetHasp back to CNC software...

How do I activate this USB dongle?

Running a local Hasp key is as simple as plugging it in to the computer you're running Mcam on

gotta be able to pack my chit in the messenger bag and hit the road,

someone asked me once what was the best part of being on-site, my answer was not having to punch in/out on their time clock

at my work, my one friend co-worker needed a new computer so they enlist the help of our purchaser to buy a computer, guy knows absolutely nothing about mastercam. so he buys this like word processing computer with 500 gigs of harddrive space, full on microsoft office, 4 gigs of ram, dont even know the processor. im sure an integrated graphics card. what a waste of 1000 bucks. was an hp.(  im surprised mastercam can even run on only 4 gig memory, but he does say it crashes a lot )

just saying this because some people even using mastercam have no idea what it really needs.

Thas a not gonna work so good,..

Been running the laptop in my sig for a couple years now
