  1. when I "analyze entity properties" it says on the top of the window "trimmed NURBS Surface" so I would guess that it came in as nurbs/splines. How do I get it to come up as arcs and lines?
  2. I am trying to load an IGES file of a previous CAD drawing. I do not have the 3D option in Mastercam X2 only mill level 2. The solid shows up as a wire frame, which is fine but it will not let me select points on the wire frame. With the old Mastercam X I use to be able to translate 3D and it would eventually show up as a regular drawing, but it isn't working with the new version. Is there away to take this wire frame and convert its entities to points and lines that I can pick off of?
  3. the cable tested good. The technical support at machine electrical tried using the backup port but it turns out the port was even worse. The board was purchased as a refurbished board awhile ago so i am not surprised. The entire board will be sent out next Monday to be fixed.
  4. I tried using the RS232 cable from the mill on the lathe and it still gives the same problem. We called machine electrical and they suggested it might be the port as well. A guy from machine electric is coming to replace it or configure the other port wed, until then I will try and keep troubleshooting the problem.
  5. It has always given me an 086 error but sent the information, the mill has as well. My parity is set to even whatever that means and was set that way when it was working yesterday, do you still think it would be that setting? Is it a setting I have to compare with the particular fanuc controller and its settings?
  6. I have a Fanuc OT control on a lathe,I am having a problem with the communication..I can send the programs fine but when I try to receive .It blinks "LSK". The computer thinks that it has taken it fine, but the machine did not take the program.. Any help would be greatly appreciated....... I can still send programs to the mill Fanuc OM controller and I used to be able to send to the lathe fine yesterday. The only thing I changed was I opened cimco edit with the newest version of mastercam X^2 and not mastercamX mr2.
  7. thanks john, I reregistered the .dll file and it seems to be working. Thanks alot, your a money saver.
  8. mastercam X gives me the error message "cannot find parasolid data in solidworks file" when trying to native file convert a .solidprt solidworks file. Is this because I do not have the solids option purchase enabled in my mastercam X program. I try to import the same program file as a neutral iges file and it imports it as a wireframe, which I want, but I am unable to select any points as if they don't exist. Can anyone help me.
  9. unfortunately I don't have version nine and thus don't have CIMCO edit. From what I can tell cimco edit is 10 times better than the X editor.
  10. Does anyone now how to delete the extra lines when opening a non-NC file into the mastercam editor. Whenever I recieve the program back from the cnc machine there is at least 4 spaces in between each block.
  11. I have been having major issues with the MCX editor as well trying to connect to a fanuc 0m/0t. One of my initial errors with the port not being found was that even though that port should of worked, I switched to lower port numbers and it worked fine. I would try other port numbers that aren't in use. and keep everything else the same as from the cimco edit.
  12. Chuck, I tried your settings and I get that 086 error message on the fanuc 0m. Do you happen to know offen what your settings on the fanuc are set at? That could be an issue I guess.
  13. I got the machine running non stop today, but as soon as it stops, I am gonna try the configuration you have. only a few settings different with the DTR. macdac engineering called me back and gave me john carpenters # who is the cnc computer integration guy for mastercam themselves. So when I get a free moment and this doesn't work I am gonna give him a call. Thanks Chuck.
  14. Chuck, are you using MR1 or MR2.
