  1. LET'S RE-VISIT THIS....need the ability to re-arrange the order of defined views in view manager. I have several models that have many workplanes/views defined (I know of 55 in one, 94 in another, and so on...) and I would like to be able to sort them, or re-arrange the order of appearance in the view manager. This is especially necessary after making changes to the model, so that other engineers can make heads and tails of the process. It's hard for me to believe that only 3 people need this ability. ????????? and WHY ARE THE SORT TABS at the top of the window functionless when you click on them? I would think "these" at least, would sort the list of views- and this would leave it to me to "name" or "number" the views so the the sorting is suitable. Any plans to fix this?
  2. It looks like the problem had to do with my settings. Rogers post gave me a clue to this. For some reason, it appears that the path-spec in the text file, must be the same directory/folder that is configured for the tool library (path) in Mastercam. And- the (.MCX) files need to be there as well. Even though I had copied the (MCX) tool files to the new directory/folder ( valid to the text file), Mastercam, was not configured to point to that directory/folder for the tool library. Once I changed this, it all worked. ( For testing - if I changed my Mastercam path back to another folder,....would fail again). Thanks for all the input.
  3. USING X2 Version 11.0.3.25 Mastercam X2 1. I exported my tool library to a text file. 2. I imported that same text file to a new tool library. result - on the 'tool parameters page', the "tool file name" is now blank on all tools. ( ouch,... oh "frikken" OUCH! ) it appears that- ( line 4 is NOT being read) I tried "quotes" and use of double backslashes in the filespec. neither corrected the problem. ========== The text export/import function is exactly what I need to very quickly make the hundreds or maybe thousands of modifications to my tool library by using a text editor and a search/replace function. I cannot imagine - clicking on each of thousands of tools to make a change. I'll never get there. Besides c-hooks or scripts - any ideas? Can anyone duplicate this problem? Thanks MuRF
  4. LOL- ( buy them back) today's MCSE makes less than the guy on the back of a garbage truck. And MC is a lot more fun. Partly cuz I still have little idea what I'm doing with it.....
  5. Just downloaded the mouse utility for the MS optical wheel mouse. It does have an option to override the mouse buttons for the application, and it does appear to work over MC....However, I'm not convinced it's working in "all instances" of which I would use the enter key. MC should - and DOES (IMHO) need the ability to assign the mouse buttons to any keyboard key or key/combination. ( just a little hint here....) most other CAD/CAM applications do.
  6. need to do this only for mastercam
  7. I would like to disable the pop up menu for the right mouse button and assign the ENTER key to it. is this possible? I would like to make the middle button the ESC key. Thanks in advance.
  8. got it.... control panel sounds......
  9. yeh , I'm looking into the windows setting. I have to shut this thing up. because I DONT know how to use MC ---- I'm getting "Ba-Boinked" and "Clicked" to death over here...... LOL
  10. Whenever a warning dialog pops up... "Ga-Boink" or Using the drop-down menus.."Click, ...click...click" I hope there's a way to turn it off.
  11. I'm using X2- is there a way to turn off all sounds? I need to have my computer speaker on for other reasons, but I don't want sounds from using my CAD or CAM applications. Thanks in advance
  12. """"I'm not sure who told you this, but, it is incorrect. The status bar uses the default GUI font that is used for buttons and other various controls. """" Where is this setting? (Default GUI font) Cuz when I change the tool tips font in windows advanced settings....it DOES change the size of the text in my status bar. Thanks
  13. Unfortunately - I (have upgraded to MR2 and) found that the MASTERCAMX utility in the WINDOWS CONTROL PANEL does NOT do anything for THIS problem. The problem is becuase the FONT for the STATUS BAR is programmed to use the WINDOWS TOOL TIP FONT. Use of this (windows) font for this purpose; "might" have been a "clever shortcut" (for the developer), but-because that developer did not allow for the status bar to "re-size" with the font,- it simply DOES NOT work. For the MASTERCAM STATUS BAR to display as the developer intended,- you must use a TOOL TIP FONT of about a "size 8". Setting this font to that size reduces the display size of many other things I use on this system. It's not practical for me to set a font on my operating system - that will affect my ENTIRE system - only to see the MASTERCAM status bar. I will hope to see it fixed in a future version. For now...I'll be in "9" MuRF
  14. I have the control panel icon for that (in MR1) but it does not do what I hoped it would. I will ask our sys admins to upgrade us to MR2. I hope the software devels notice this problem and consider a hard ( or adjustable) font for for the status bar in future releases. An adjustable font would be better for some of us with vision problems.
  15. The "Windows" tooltip font is what is used in these fields, these fields do not automatically adjust on a system where the tooltip font has been set to a larger value. It appears that unless you set this font very small, the field sizes are not adequate to display the values. I'm hoping to find something to adjust the field width/height sizes for the status bar. Is there something -deep- in a config file that I can play with? Setting my Windows tooltip font to a smaller value is NOT an acceptable solution, as the higher font size is required for other needs.
