  1. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'm on my own here to learn this so I really rely on any external help I can find. I've learnt everything so far from training tutorials(books) & many long days scratching my head when it wasn't ichy. I've been using Mastercam since edition 9 & trying to keep up with each new release. Hey hockey guy, I'll play around with creating a new tool path group but I may need some help to walk me trough it if I can't figure it out. Newbeeee, I was looking in the view manager but wasn't sure how to change the datum lines. I'll try your suggestion also. Roger, your suggestion may seem like only 3 cents worth but to me it's very valuable info. Thanks! Thanks for the thread link Hockey guy, I will certainly check it out. I'm off for a week but when I return I may post more related topics. Have a great weekend everyone. Marc
  2. Thank you very much Pilot plant supervisor! That's what I was looking for. The student will be very pleased to hear we're back on track with his cylinder head project. Marc
  3. Thanks for your reply K2csq7 but that's not what I want to do. I understand how to change from different views. I want to reposition the part. If I change to top or side view I still have the same original placement on the axis lines x,y,z. I've tried xform commands but that seems to just swing the part around on the same plane. I can't be the only one who's wanted to do this. Any ideas please.
  4. This might seem like a beginner question but I'm still learning Mastercam. I have a part that I need to flip from top WCS view to bottom WCS view. I need to do some machining on the bottom of the part now that I've finished with the top. I'm using X7. Thanks in advance
  5. Thanks Craig, that will sure help to rule out that part of the problem.
  6. Your right puter nerd & I've done that but still having the problem. Thanks anyway.
  7. I've recently switched out our floppy drive readers for usb simulating floopy drives but the new drives wouldn't load any programs from the flash drive. Anybody familiar with these drives. The drives where purchased from a company called "Richpeace". I installed one on our Milltronics CNC Lathe & the other on our Milltronics CNC mill.
  8. Thanks guys, you were right. The amount left for my drive & check surfaces were wrong. I had to reset them so that the check surface was smaller then my drive amount. I'm filling the chip bin once again.
  9. Hi everyone, I'm having trouble generating a finish tool path. The part is all roughed out & everytime I try to generate the finish tool path I get this pop up {No cut found-check tool, cut depths or roll tool at all edges}. I press ok & the next pop up {Unable to determine a valid maching zone- no tool path created}? I'd sure appreciate some feed back. Thanks everyone.
  10. Good news Matt & Steve, that's what I've been missing. It worked like I wanted it to now. Thanks guys.
  11. Hi Matt, Thanks for the tip. I think thats what I'm missing. I'm not selecting the boundry surface as a check surface. I thought it was a automatic shield. I'll give it another try with the next tool & let you know. Also, I'll add a signature to my profile as you suggested. Thanks for your help.
  12. Hi Steve, I chained the preimeter of the surface & there was a visiable boundry there but when I run the verification, it showed the cutter travelling beyond the boundry? Thanks for your help.
  13. Hello everyone, I'm having trouble with "create flat boundry" option. I have some area's in the part I'm trying to keep the tool out of but when I generate the tool path it doesn't recognize the boundry surface. What am I missing or doing wrong?
  14. Thanks for filling in for me Bob on this forum. I didn't think there would be any new info. I'll have to check more often. Also, thanks to everyone else for your help.
  15. O.K. Zoober, I found it.Thanks again for your help.
