  1. Hi all! Does anybody know what happens to my MC9.1? Since some days ago it runs very slow and also makes all the system slow, if i try to open a word or excel sheet it takes a long long time. Everything goes ok when i shut down MC. I tried to unisntall and reinstall again but, the same. Thanks.
  2. Hello all, I'm pocketing a part with surface/rough/pocket I'm trying to do it by the cutting methor of morph spiral but i don't know if mastercam 9.1 can interpolate the corners in order to make smoother path for the tool. thanks
  3. Hello to all, Is there any way to get a faster communication between my TNCREMO and the HEIDENHAIN TNC 426 by RS-232 and also by ethernet? I go more or less at 4/5/6 Kb/second and I think I could go faster. Thanks.
  4. If you had to ask to a customer for his geometry which would be the type of file requested from best to worst of the following? PARASOLID/IGES/DXF/SAT/UG (Anyone wants to add a type of file?) thanks for your help.
  5. yes gary I know this one but what i don't know is: If I put a value in the cut tolerance parameter what should happen? For example, if the cut tolerance is 0.001", the toolpath will be generated with 0.001" on each side of the original toolpath or will be 0.0005" on each side?
  6. Hello again, Ok, now I now how to make when my part tolerances are not symetrical (+-). But nobody have explained me exactly what happens with cut and filter tolerances. Which one of this cannot be minus? Thanks.
  7. Hello Wallace, As I understand, filter doesn't have minus value? And the cut tolerance, does it have minus value? For me this is not very clear in MC. What should happen if my geometry tolerances are not +0.01 -0.01 and are for instance 0 -0.02, do I have to set this into the geometry? I could see in UG an intol outol. thanks Wallace.
  8. Hello all, this is a silly question but i'm not sure so... in the cam parameters, the chordal deviation and the filter tolerances are plus minus the value i put? For example, if i write chordal deviation 0.01, is it +0.01 -0.01 or +0.005 -0.005? Is it the same for the filter? thanks in advance.
  9. Thank you very much for your explanation Wallace.
  10. Could anybody explain me a little bit the meaning of the values in the sheet screen/config/tolerances? Thanks a lot.
  11. Thanks Mark! It works great!
  12. Hello, I've hot a question. It's not a big problem but it is a little bit anoying. The matter is that when I'm operating with MC8 sometimes I get the following message in the bottom of the screen: "SAVING NCI FILE" (it's the literal translation from spanish). And then it gets stuck for a while. Is there any way to disable this one? Thank you very much.
  13. Kenneth, It worked perfect your idea! Thanks.
  14. Kenneth, Think your idea could be good. I will try but next week. Now, holidays.
  15. yeah kccadcam it is surface/rough/pocketing. I've tried this parameter of "follow boundary" but i don't like so much because the tool starts at a point more external and then comes again to the center of the pocket. This makes the tool milling more time with the whole diameter and if you are milling hardened steel the tool will suffer a lot.
  16. sorry, I forgot to tell the MC version. 8.1
  17. Hello there, My problem is that when I make a pocket roughing and I activate the helix for plunging the helix I get is not tangencial to the toolpath. I mean that the tool enters into the material where it wants and when it have finished making the helix and have reached the step it goes to the center of the pocket in order to start the toolpath creating an abrupt change which is bad for the tool. How can I create an helix which were tangencial to the toolpath? I hope have explain it well. Thanks guys.
  18. That's right James, I've understood that i can create an squared toolpath with a cube solid for example, but i cannot create a cube solid with an squared toolpath. Thanks.
  19. Hello, Is there any option in MC8 to generate a .MC8 filewith an iso or heidenhain file assigning the tools and the parameters? Would be like the inverted procedure. Thank you for the replies.
  20. Thank you Zero. Also another question. Do you know any way to make this contour surface finishing steping over in spiral? I mean without having to make the tangencial entry and exit in every step. I though it could be possible with spiral 3D but for contouring it makes some strange things and with this function is not possible to create minimum stepover. Thanks.
  21. There is an option in MC8 which allows to insert steps when the part is getting horizontal (for example: in the bottom of an sphere cavity). I know that in UGS there is an option that creates each step depending on the peak-to-valley value that you want in the part. Is there any similar option in MC8? Thank you very much.
  22. What happens into my MC? When I try to enter there's an error message whichs tells "the clock have been delayed or Windows 95 time zone is incorrect". I could mend it by changing the day to three months later. But, Do I have to be changing all the time when I want to use MC until the two dates were the same? Thank you for your replies.
  23. Hi, My way to make program parts is making programs of the part than later I call them all in a job-file in which I put tool calls, coolant, revolutions. Also I make apear feed rates making that mastercam create variables instead of the exact value of the feed rate (for example, F Q1: milling feed rate, F Q2: plunging feed rate and F Q3: rapid feed rate). But I have a problem because when I make the postprocessing it only apears the feed rate for milling (F Q1). Where do I have to put the variables for the plunging and rapid feed rate in the postprocessor?? Thanks.
  24. First of all, thank you very much everybody for your help. I think this forum is fantastic and I can learn a lot here. On the other hand, I will try to increase the baud rate of my machine. What do you mean with "job setup max feed rate for arcs"? It's an option of Mastercam? Which should be the parameters if I have to reach a tolerance of plus minus 0.01 mm? Thanks to all
  25. I have problems to mill in our HSC machine. I cannot reach feed rates of 160 inch/min without getting little stops in the machine. The machine uses Heidenhain TNC 430 and the chordal error I use (surface pocket roughing) is 0'0005. I've noticed that this stops are procuded mostly when the machine is making movements in all three axes. I make the .nc files with circle interpolations. I thought there were too points that the control couldn't read and I tried to activate the option of filter arcs, but I don't know how it works exactly and decided to put a tolerance the double of the chordal error, a forecast of 100 lines and create arcs (forecast and arcs with default values). Also the smooth tolerance for the machine (cycle 32 in heidenhain) was normal I think (0.002). But even doing this one the machine makes little stops. What am I doing wrong?? Do anybody happened the same with mastercam? Thank you in advance.
