Something similar happened to me and I copied the file in question to my desktop, opened
the new copied one. It was fixed.
Renamed the old one(not delete just in case) and put the new one in the same old folder
Worth a try.
Cheers
Tried it, but still no go.
He tried to open an X4 file in X2.. and got a alarm that said
"corrupt or invalid file"
then it asked him if he wanted to save it and he said yes
which overwrote your good X4 file with an empty X2 file..
If you don't have a back up file, you are all done.
This issue is the main reason X5 files have the file extension mcx-5
so people will know which version file they are trying to open.
Thats what i think really happened. But the guy says otherwise. And, the file is still an X4 file. Weird.
Guess i'll just start over.
Thanks for all the replies guys.

I looked a little further into this file this morning. The file contains no geometry, no toolpaths, and we don't use the autosave/backup function. So I guess, i'll just have to start over and do it again. I actually save a solid model of the finished lathe part as an X2 file, for the mill programmer to use as a stock model. But apparently he tried to merge the X4 file instead.
I still don't see why this would happen, if all he did was try to merge geometry. Why would it affect the source file?

I just noticed this today when i had to go back in a mcx file to make some changes. I programmed the lathe work on a job using X4. Then, when it went to get mill programmed, the mill programmer tried to import my X4 file into X2.(i think) Now, i have an empty X4 file. The file still has some size to it, but there is nothing there. No geometry, no toolpaths, and my machine def is now a Generic Mill.
I checked our server backup first thing, and that was a no go.(very dissapointing)
So, my question is, is there anyway to recover this file? or am i totally screwed?

Well, he is still having the same issues with verify. I guess he gave up, and decided to just live with it. *shrugs*
Let me know if you figure anything out.
also, i will have to check that last post out when i get home. I just get a big banner saying "Content blocked by your organization"
edit: thanks for the link JParis, that would definitely explains things. I'll put in the word and get him running a newer version.

kazmir,
I'm running that exact system, including Win7 64 bit. Did you ever get your video issues straightenend out? If so, what driver did you end up using. I've tried a few with no luck.
Thad
I actually posted this for another guy who does our high speed stuff. I don't think he fixed the problem, but, I'll get with him on it today and find out for sure.

It's been awhile since i created a tool that way. But, that must be some sort of bug. I just tried what you were doing in X2, and it worked fine.

this is like deja-vu or something.
weird.

I was going to add some fuel to this fire.
But, on second thought, I think I'll just keep my mouth shut this time.

Are you talking about a rough or a finish toolpath?
-
I'm not really sure on the post question. We don't have any verticals here, so I am not really familiar with them.
Unless you are well versed in post editing, I would give a call to your reseller, or In House.
just my 2 cents.

Okuma with a fanuc control.

All you have to do is put it where you want it, then close it with the green check. The next time you open it it should be there.
worked for me.

I will definitely look into that.
Thanks.

Thanks guys.
It's still a bit glitchy when verifying toolpaths. But, I can use anlayze dynamic now with no issues.

Hi guys,
Our programming dept. was blessed last week with new computers running windows 7 64bit. Which is toatlly awesome since we were still using version 9 for some things.
Anyways, we are currently running x2mr2 sp1. on a dell t3500, xeon processor, and quadro fx580 card.
When i import an iges file and analyze dynamic, the graphics are "repainted" with the last thing i verified, when i move the mouse around. I searched for any info on this subject but didn't come up with any real solution other than to try updating the drivers. (which i need to have the IT dept. take care of)
Has anyone else had this problem, and is there anything else i can do before calling IT?
I already checked that OpenGL is checked on and disable front buffer is set off.

from the settings dropdown menu.. pick control definition manager. Then, pick operation defaults on the left side. Set your parameters here to the way you want them defaulted.

yep...updated to MU3

Not really up and running. Installation is as far as i got. I was greeted with a huge stack of blueprints this morning from a new customer. So i guess x4 goes on the back burner until i get threw this stack.
Another day in the life.....

The other day i had a guy ask me, "Do you ever have days that you just want to punch someone in the face?"
I think today will be one of those days.
So how about them Tigers?

Well, I'm finally doing it.
Upgrading from x2 to x4. Installing right now.
I hope this transition turns out to be smoother than the last.

nevermind,
I was wondering how i was going to program this.
But, i guess i could draw the helix and just run a contour on it. simple.
It must be monday.

Had a guy call me this morning and ask if i could do an OD oil groove on our C-axis lathe. They can't get a lathe tool to hold up, and the part is apparently quite long.
Thats all the info i have until he calls back.
Has anyone ever attempted this?
X4 file is now empty?

That's not a bad idea.
The most obvious fix to this would be to get everyone here running the same version.
Easier said than done though.
