  1. I keep getting the following error when I try to create a Swept 2d toolpath: "Swept 2d toolpaths should only contain 3 chains, 1 across, 1 along, 1 chain point". This occurs after the across chain has been accepted, the start point has been accepted. It happens the next step where I select the intersection point. I have gotten this to work before, but I can seem to figure out from the error, where it is going wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. I am running MasterCam X2 MR2, Router with Engraving option
  3. It's not so much the time factor but: 1) It's one piece of MDF therefore it will move uniformly with temperature and humidity changes. 2) After it is set up on the router, you can basically stand back and let it run.
  4. I am trying to cut a four panel, raised panel door out of MDF. There is a tutorial for doing this in the Mastercam X2 Router Training Tutorial by In-House Solutions. The tutorial uses a 1/2" straight bit to cut a pocket between the stiles and rails and the panel and then uses a chamfer bit to slope the sidewalls of the pocket and clean up the corners. However, in a true raised panel door, the bottom of the "pocket" would be sloped away from the panel and the pocket walls would be squared, not sloped. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to slope the bottom of the pocket and also clean up the outside corners of the pocket?
  5. I am trying to set up a series of 28 parallel 2d swept wireframe toolpaths. It is basically a semicircle swept along a straight line. Is there an easy way to do this once or do I have to do it 28 times? I have the arcs and lines all laid out, but if I select the first arc and then the second, it says chaining complete. It does the same if I choose on arc and then the line. I am sure that I am missing something simple.
  6. Thanks to all for some great suggestions. Your tips were very helpful.
  7. Troy, Great suggestion. When you do that can you specify the cutting direction, that is, horizontal vs. vertical?
  8. Thanks for the tip, Thad. I think I follow what you are saying, but I don't think that will quite work for the approach I was taking. So... I am taking a new approach. What I am planning to do is create a form that we can use. So instead of a solid block of curved surface we will have four flat pieces consisting of an arc and a chord on the bottom of the piece and the same geometry on the top except that the radius of the arc will be slightly smaller creating a sloped edge along the arcs. Can anyone get me started on how to create a toolpath for that edge? No matter what I have tried I seem to keep getting one error or another. For example when I try a face toolpath, I get an error that the boundary doesn't lie in the construction plane.
  9. I am trying to cut the sloped back to a curved bench. I was able to draw it as a swept surface. However I don't have level 2, only level 1 and so I am prevented from using surface Toolpaths. Is there a way to simlate this using contours or some other toolpath? This is not an everyday project for us, so I can't justify the investment in level 2 just for this project.
  10. The problem happened again and I hit the Esc button and all was well again. Thanks to all. Bill
  11. Thanks for the suggestions guys, and the warm welcome. I'll give that a try the next time it happens.
  12. I am just learning MasterCam, going through the MasterCam Beginner Training Tutorial Book. I was setting Contour parameters for a tool and I clicked on the Depth button. The window minimized (showing Contour (2D)) and I couldn't seem to get it to maximize again. If I clicked on it, it just beeped. If I click on save, it beeps. This happened before and I had to go into task manager and abort the program. Does anyone have any suggestions?
