  1. Not sure why?!? I've tried both of those methods (extend to stock) and the ref point, neither works for me. Still zapping over to Z0, backing up to the lead in amt, then feeding in. I've looked everywhere, and this is not the way it's supposed to work like this.
  2. When creating a rough toolpath in lathe x2, my first move is always to z0 then it backs up and feeds in. Not exactly what I want, and can not find how to stop it. Any help please?
  3. I just encountered another strange mcam quirk. In X2 MR1 when I opened up two viewports (top/bottom) to copy between, only one viewport lets me window select. I was translating geo. between windows but very annoying. Regardless of picking the window select button, etc. nothing works, then when going back into single port, still cant window select until I exit out and restart mcam. So much for productivity. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks
  4. All set... got it to work, thanks tho.
  5. I'm trying to create a closed curves tube using a lofted surface. The surface was created from a solid, and when generated it came out as two halves. I need a one-piece surface so I created flowlines on the surfaces, and am trying to regen a new loft as one piece. The problem i'm having is that I cannot get the surface to start and end on the same line, there is always a gap between regardless of sync mode used. This is a 4-axis port, picture a oblong cylinder with a slight bend in the center. Any help would be appreciated since the toolpath will not function properly using two half surfaces. Thanks
  6. The machine is a Takisawa single spindle, two turret with a live tooling spindle. The X coords for the lower turret mirror the upper (X+ is away from the spindle). I guess I can just make it for the upper turret and modify the nc but I know there has to be a way to program it properly. As for machine homes, they are all correct.
  7. I'm fairly competent at programming a single turret lathe, but this is a problem. My question is this: How do I properly get mastercam to utilize the second turret. I've got my tool configured to turret two, and thats fine until I create a toolpath. The tool appears to make the cut fine, but the rapid in/out are going to the machine home for the top turret. Also the post is shooting out negative X coords. My part is oriented centered on X, with Y0 being my Z0, and the chain being cut is on the lower left quadrant. Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
  8. Worked great, set the lead in to 90deg and all is well, just some tweaking left. Thanks a million ]
  9. Sorry about the diagram but it is just a wide groove basically.
  10. I'm faily new to lathe programming, but this one should be easy enough. Not having any luck though. I need to rough out a section on a bar between two shoulders. Part looks like this .--. *this area* .--. | | | | ---------' `---------------' `---. ____ _ ____ _ ____ _ ____ _ ____ _ | ____ It is approx .25 deep and 3.5 long. I've tried everything I can think of, roughing from both directions, etc. I do not want to groove out the whole thing?! Thanks
  11. Easy enough. I had quite a pile of you-know-what to flip through and only needed to keep a few of the layers. Thanks for the help
  12. Is there a way to delete layers? Cant seem to find a way. Thanks
  13. Easy enough, thanks for the help.
  14. I'm re-writing an existing program to include one hole put in at A60. My setup consists of a 4th axis cube with a fixture mounted to the top 3 inches above c/l. I need to contour and drill, then rotate to 60 and finish the last hole. My question is this: my origin needs to stay at c/l of a-axis. Do I need to translate/rotate the whole setup to achieve this, or is there a way to move the wcs to maintain this zero? Thanks in advance
  15. Thanks, guess i'll just have to bite it... One more thing, I ran color-surf (c-hook), is there a way to turn it back off?
  16. Simple question: Is the file format (.MCX) different between X2 and X? I tried loading a file from X2 into X and it would not load. I'd rather not save it as a .MC9 if I can avoid it. Thanks Erik
  17. Aaron, Sorry but it wasn't me at the booth but we'd have a lot to talk about I'm sure. We do have a functioning post for our five axis, and it's been done a million times here before me. In the meantime i've got a smaller but pretty detailed cylindrical part to machine on the same unit. Thanks
  18. Aaron, Thanks for the reply. So far, all the info I've gathered is previously run programs. I can access these files, and reference them for learning purposes. I'm getting my feet wet with five-axis machining and containment boundaries. I was more or less asked to "look into it" so when this job comes up, I will be prepared.
  19. Thanks for the help, it kept leaving a slight step when I filled the hole, but trimmed it and all is good.
  20. To note, I've gotten the holes filled using CREATE/SURFACE/FILL HOLES, then CREATE/SURFACE/UNTRIM SURFACES. The problem is that there is still a "hole" there, it is filled, but the toolpath still generates a tiny bump on the edges of the hole when finishing. I need this feature gone, I got it to work friday, but cant remember the sequence I used to make it blend with the rest of surface. Thanks
  21. Need to punch a hole through an existing model (surfaces and wireframes only. The part is basically a thin wall tube, with about a 3/4" hole on c/l through one side. Was going to project onto surface then trim? Also can that hole be easily removed?
  22. You guys rock, that was getting frustrating. Thanks a bunch
  23. I've got a easy one here.. I'm machining a circular pocket, two op's, one rough and a finish cut. Problem is the finish cut was moved up in the order of cuts, and is now the second cut, followed by a fillet on the lip of the pocket. - When I post all ops, the middle (finish cut) gets un-checked and does not post. Any ideas? using MCAMX2 with a simple wireframe consisting of one circle. This has happened when adding a manual to the top of the toolpath list (comments) and posted out only comments and no other ops. I know it's probably something easy, but I am a little stuck.
  24. Thanks TSTOM... CadCam - yeah I understand it's pretty private data most cases, us included. We're running an existing porting op, but it may need some tweaking. I've got surfaces in IGES and some older jobs saved for ref., but any advice at this point is helpful. Thanks...
  25. I'm new to this forum but I thought I'd throw one out: I'm looking for *any* info or resources on porting (cyl. heads) on a five axis brute (fanuc). Samples, methods, theory, etc... Anything would be appreciated. Using MCAMX2 Thanks
