  1. well here is my issue. I bought these 2 machines along with Solidworks and Mastercam X used from another machinest who was getting out of the trade. So therefore I have no direct reseller or dealer to go to. I am pretty much on my own. The guy that sold me these machines and software didn't ever use Mastercam for generating g-code. He just used Mastercam to draw parts with, and recently got Solidworks but he said it was too much of a learning curve to go to 3d. So therefore he got rid of the stuff since he no longer is machining anyhow. But when I installed MC X, I don't see all these POSTS that come with the software. And I'm sort of stuck with trying to get a post because again I don't have a reseller to go to. And I figure if I do go to a reseller, they are going to probably charge me a ton of money since I didn't buy the software through them. So what are my options at this point? BTW.. I hear that Solidworks and Mastercam X play very good together. I have gotten pretty good at Solidworks, I really haven't even tried making 3d models in Mastercam because I like the Solidworks interface much better. So would I be fine by just making my cad 3d models in solidworks, then opening them up in Mastercam X and generating toolpaths and G code through Mastercam? or does the Solidworks to Mastercam conversion require a lot more input from me to get it to work properly. I guess I'm just trying to NOT have to draw parts in Mastercam, but instead do all the CAD work in Solidworks, but only use the CAM features in Mastercam. I hope this makes sense.. I'm still a bit new to this all so please don't flame me.
  2. thanks guys. Will MC 9 posts work in MC X? I thought MC X was a complete redesign of the software so the posts would need to also be redone for the X (10.0) version? In what directory on the CD are all the posts?
  3. oh sorry, didn't realize I couldn't ask for a post. Well can somebody tell me on the Mastercam X cd, where I find all the posts? All I see once the program is installed is the following under this directory.. C:Program FilesMastercamXmillPosts Generic Fanuc 3X Mill.pst Generic Fanuc 4X Mill.pst Generic Fanuc 5X Mill.psb Generic Fanuc 5X Mill.pst Mill2.SET MILL.SET MILLM.SET MPFAN.PST I thought there would be HUNDREDS of posts in there but there isn't.. so did I do something wrong on the install?
  4. Hi, I was just wondering if anybody could help me out with this. I have Mastercam X and was looking for the following post processors to work with my machines. 1.) Bridgeport 3-axis vertical mill. Using a Centroid M-15 cnc controller. 2.) SWI Trak Lathe. Using a ProtoTRAK VL cnc controller. Thank you, any help is very much appreciated!
